Just finished reading Bone, so good

I've been going on a comic/graphic novel binge for a while now and this has to be one of the best things I've read so far. Yesterday I read 400 pages out of nowhere and today I finished this grand piece of work.

I love how the early books feature the Bone cousins in slapstick scenarios full of great comedy timing and excellent use of silent panels, to then evolve into this epic Tolkien-like tale. It's phenomenal. Great characters who really come to life because of the art and excellent writing. I read the black n white one volume edition and I can't wait for the fully coloured version of that to come out... which will probably still take a while.

i was really dissapointed with it.  i'd heard people praise it, so i thought it would be something worth checking out.  instead i find that it's chock full of typical nerd shit - wuss hero who has a crush on a girl (interspecies love stories are especially disgusting), ancient sealed evil, etc.  just felt blandly familiar the whole way through.

this. it wasn't bad, but it was awfully generic. writing is awful, art is great
