Anyone here play Quake Wars?

I ended up getting this over UT3 'cause I wasn't sure about UT3's community.  The collector's edition is only $30 and it's one of the nicest CEs I've seen recently.

Why's Quake Wars a POS?  I've heard more bad things about UT3.

IMO, best team-based FPS going on the PC. I still play it regularly. One of the best things about it is that you can join a pub server and people actually work together most of the time and there's amazingly little jackassery.

It's got the staying power, for me at least, that TF2 lacks. It's smarter, deeper, and more demanding than that game, and better balances completing objectives and getting frags than TF2 does.

Frag, what about UT3?  Does that get your seal of approval?  Its CE is also $30 at Fry's.  It's a pretty lame CE though, compared to Quake Wars.

UT3 is on my $20 or bust list. The game is defintiely the looker, but from the demo I played I felt like it was just more of the same Unreal Tournament, and I've had my fill of that. I'm looking for more choices and more complex gameplay out of my shooters nowadays, not less.

Except Battlefield Heroes, of course. But I'll play that the same way I play causal games from GameTap-as a timewaster when I don't want to play anything serious.

I suspect UT3's deathmatchy gameplay is why it was heavily pirated instead of bought.

Yeah, UT3 feels too much like same old, updated in some ways but outdated in most other ways. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it feels pretty redundant.

The Quake Wars beta was pretty fun.  A better Battlefield 2142 than Battlefield 2142.

I'm interested in Quake Wars, but I'm wondering if there will be decent gameplay through XBL. QWars seems like it would be more popular on the PC -- and of course the price is going to influence that a lot as well... is the 360 version still full-priced?

Most likely.  I think the 360 version was just recently launched.

I play this game - on the PS3.

It doesnt look great - but its ben fun so-far.

ITs about as engaging as battlefront but not nearly as spazzy.
