I like Eo2 a hell of a lot. But some of the gimmicks are wearing on me. Example: 3rd floor, you need to use the Lure Bell to pull the FoE away from the exit. I used the Lure Bell incorrectly the first time. The only way to get another one is to Chop some shit and sell it. This means you need to sink at least one point into Chop, which is more or less a waste. Then you have to pray that you "Chop" the right item. The first 3 times I got ambushed, the following 4 I didn't get the right item. I finally had to add a Dark Hunter to my team and use his version of Lure. That's not a challenge, that's just a fucking pain.
FFTA2, on the other hand, always has like 15 quests on deck at varying degrees of difficulty. It enourages you to swap jobs early and often and I love the skill system- Loot can be used to make weapons. Weapons give you skills. Skills open new classes. There's an enormous amount of freedom, where as in EO2 I'm stuck trolling the 3rd floor for wood.
From a gameplay standpoint comparing the two is unfair, but I'm having a hell of a better time with FFTA:2.
