After the latest Supreme Court decision, 5-4 against DC's gun ban, the GAF thread is championing it.

Do people really hold the Constitution as the be-all Bible of our country?  It's a fucking flawed piece of writing...ESPECIALLY the second amendment, which is poorly written and doesn't even APPLY anymore.  Since when were we all fucking in state militias?

It's not about liking guns, it's a constitutional matter. The constitution is flawed of course but it's the law of the nation. We can argue abouts the lack of need for militias all we want but it's a pretty clear statement on the right to own guns.

But on the flip side there's the question of whether everyone is able to own a gun - people with deep criminal records for instance. Eh

It doesn't say that only "well regulated" people can own guns at all.

Im totally fine with regulation of the type of guns and the required training and credentials to own a gun. I just dont like how crazy far left people say I shouldnt be allowed to own one period. What's the harm in having some civilians that know how to fight for their rights should something occur that endangers them.

Not everyone who owns a gun is a 'gun nut' except if you ask some crazy ass liberal that believes a world built on conflict can suddenly exist without any conflict at all. I am not an extreme person, and in most cases I do veer towards the left, but I find something troubling about the subtle pacification of america, be it through extreme surveiliance methods or removing our ability to protect our values should it come to that.
