More Roommate problems
« on: June 28, 2008, 12:00:56 AM »
My crazy roommate is making sure I know that he acts like a 10 year old.

He is up to his crazy antics. Here it goes.

This morning I get up to eat some breakfast, like any sane human being. For some reason I like to put my cereal box on top of the fridge, it seemed like a decent place for cereal He gets the great idea to stack all his shit, I mean everything on top of the fridge, and because he is a child and has no job, it consists of mac and cheese, chocolate and noodle bowls. He buys little peanut and cupcake snacks that he doesn't intent to eat. The hershey bar on top of the fridge has been there for months (not that that is strange by itself but combined with the rest of his bullshit it just gets old).  See exhibit A.

So like I was saying, I went to get some cereal and an oatmeal packet fell down when I opened the fridge. Me being the asshole that I am, just left it there because we have a fucking cabinet that is empty in the kitchen where he can put this shit! Anyway, I think nothing of it because I figure I am teaching him the lesson that adults put things in places that make sense. I go to work and come back and find my cereal box on the ground in front of the fridge. See exhibit B.

I think it must be an accident so I put it back on top of the fridge but I leave his oatmeal there. I go out and come back a few hours later and I find the cereal back on the floor. Now I no that fucker is doing this on purpose because he is a child and cant understand why his fucking oatmeal fell. He probably thinks I put it on the ground to spite him.

This is a long string of things that demonstrate that the part of his brain that tell us where to put things is not working. For example we have two remotes. I like to keep them on the coffee table so when I sit down I can actually reach them. For some god awful child reason he puts them on a bookshelf out of reach of everyone. This is extra confusing to me because he is lazy. Anyway look a these pictures of my small living area. The box of chocolates has been there for a fucking year I swear to god. Cheap fucking chocolate on the coffee table along with this bag of chips he bought two weeks ago and hasn't touched. If I were to move those food items to the fridge he would get mad at me.

You can see that the coffee table is perfect to put the remote control on. Be he likes to put it on the bookshelf in the background. Like this.

Im not a lazy person, BUT THIS MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE!!!! Even after I ask him to not do this he still does it.

He also always turns the air OFF whenever he leaves. When my GF comes over I have to put tape on the AC control so he doesn't mess with it (she doesn't like to be too hot). He keeps it at 80 degrees and its fucking hot down south. He thinks he is saving money when he turns the AC off for a few hours but it just makes it harder for the AC to cool back down later.   :maf

Oh and because he doesn't have a  job his mom is making him move back home 3 hours away. He wont get a job even after that. He says he doesnt want to fall into the 9-5 rut. Anyway, he has alot of friends in this town and he was like "I can just pay you $100 to sleep on your couch a few times a month right?" Uhhh, Hell No.

Oh and his mom owns a dry cleaning business (big surprise right) and he wont take our giant rug home to get cleaned. He claims to be a germaphobe yet doesn't want to have a clean rug.  And he is such a germaphobe that he wont use the on-site laundry because he thinks hobos take dumps in them. This means he usually goes about a  month without washing his clothes. He then takes them home for his mom to wash.

Be glad he is gone then.  Tell him to fuck off, change the locks to keep his loony ass out, then live it up while masturbating on his oatmeal and old melted chocolates.

you should've just ripped into his lazy ass a long time ago.  You don't accomplish anything by pussyfooting around his behavior, and if you don't keep harassing him then he has no reason to change his habits.  Also, you shouldn't feel bad about being a dick, because he clearly has no problem acting like one.

anyway it's all moot now cause he's leaving.  how did he pay bills without a job anyway?  his mom?

Oh and he always gets extra napkins when he eats fastfood. He carries them around in his pocket and then just leaves them on the counter to use later. The problem is that they are all crumpled from being in his pocket and it looks like ass.

Where is he in his life?  Is he college student or a college grad?  Is he skipping college and trying other avenues?  He sounds like a douche, btw.  I've dealt with roommates since my freshman year of college until recently, before finally getting my own place, and I've never had issues like the horror stories I've heard.

He went to a big school in state for half of a semester but dropped out after a few weeks. Then he went to L.A. to go to film school where he lived in his car because rent was so high. Half way through the semester his back hurt so he dropped out and drove cross the US back here. He keeps saying he is writing a screenplay when he goes to a coffee shop but I have yet to see any of his writing.

Our fridge is pretty bare so it's no big deal, plus I thought it would be cool to help him with a movie. But that never happened.

You keep bitching but take no action. You've listed off like 40 things in your threads but still don't do anything. I guess you can't wait until he leaves, but that wouldn't be any fun.

I'll post some bullet points about my roommate:

- Doesn't have toilet paper.  Three weeks ago, he used up his roll and left the cardboard tube in his bathroom, two feet away from the trash bin.  I know this because my other roommate (whom I share a bathroom with) was using it and I figured I'd take a quick dump but oh no, no toilet paper.  I look in the cabinets.  Nothing.  He has all his other things in there so it isn't like he hoards the tp in his room.  This week he got a new roll that suspiciously looks like one of mine.  However, if he went two weeks without toilet paper, just take it.

- Got three gallon jugs of whole milk.  Nobody else could fit anything in there.  What is worse is that one jug expired.  His solution was to move it to the back at the opposite corner of the refrigerator and set my Brita filter container out.  He managed to finish another jug and set the empty container in the refrigerator when the trash can was three steps away.  The other container, he drank half of and got another jug of milk.  I threw away the expired jug away.

- It was raining outside and the windows were open.  I called his phone and he did not pick up.  So I left for home and found that it was pouring into the apartment and the roommate was just there, gawking at it.  I shut it, took a piss, and when I left, he was in the same position he was when I walked in the door and about two minutes had passed.

- On occasion he leaves his room and watches TV.  When any one of us comes home, we say "Hi" and then when there is a commercial break, he turns off the TV and runs to his room.  We are nothing but friendly to him but he runs away.

- He is nocturnal also.  He is up all night watching DVDs and sleeps for several different periods throughout the day where he then drives away and then comes up to our place speaking frantically and angrily in his native language (he is African) on his cell phone.  He sounds like he is ready to kill somebody.

- He also has the tendency to leave the front door wide open and just leave.  I've found it like that for a while.  I would tell him about it but he is never around when I have free time.

80 fucking degrees dude.

Down south that is like murder.

Fuck that shit.

80 degrees is still bad weather up here in Iowa.  The floods have receded but a lot of the ground is still wet.  Which means humidity is fucking awful.

My roommate calls me a girl for having 4 pairs of shoes (running, sandals, boots, and dress shoes). He only has one pair of crocs!! Our mutual friend had to tell him to change them when we went shindig at a fancy italian restaurant.

Does anyone know if its cheaper or more expensive to turn the air off when you leave. I cant find a good answer online. HE turns it off when he laves for an hour so then the whole place heats up to 80 something and then takes a few hours to cool down.
