Im hoping they are satisfied with WoW for PVP, Diablo 2 PVP made the single player kind of unfun compared to Titan Quest, which has no fear of having completely overpowered builds cause *gasp* theyre fun!

I'm guessing that multiplayer in this game will be pretty awesome.  I wonder how many players it will support.  I'm kinda hoping that they try a different party dynamic than the tank-healer-blah mmo thing, but I'm not getting my hopes up since that is like the standard party setup in games these days.  I also hope that the game is still fully solo-able.

Well, at least 4 person co-op is pretty much confirmed.  Then again, they might pull a Silicon Knights and lower it to 2 player and blame it on some dumb reason.  Oh, who am I kidding, this is Blizzard!

The multiplayer didn't look MMO-ish at all. It looked like a bunch of people playing, well, Diablo, with the game tweaked so that the multiplayer was pretty natural. The health orbs give health to everyone around you when picked up (so if someone needs a heal, just grab the orb, everyone gets healed) and the loot distribution is done smoothly-if you can see it, you can loot it.

I hope they have some MMO-ish features like an Auction House, though, at least for closed bnet ladder stuff. The idea of going into games specifically for trading items needs to go the way of the dodo, even for this kind of game.

I hope they focus on coop and not PVP. PVP in Diablo II never really worked out to be balanced iirc

I'm not putting much stock in the video except as a sort of proof of concept.  I mean, I am sure the game will look and play like that, but I doubt there's been much put into the underpinnings and balance that's going to be there when it actually launches.  But yeah, I guess you are right--they can't really put any sort of "strict" party dynamics in play when it needs to be, well, much less balanced than something like WoW.

I do kinda hope they put a lot of work into creating a working economy this time around.  That's one place where I would like to see things more WoW-like.  I am guessing that some sort of worldwide auction house system will be in place.

IT'S 5 PERSON COOP!, not 4.

FIVE PERSON COOP

Eat shit and die Dyack.

5? oh my.  I only noticed the 4 in the video plus the NPC helpers.

But I thought having more people on screen would make things more chaotic! How can it be pulled off!

Just to clarify, Blizz hasn't chosen a number yet. They can technically go pretty high, they just said that 4-5 person parties provide the best balance of mayhem and fun.

So glad whirlwind returns for the Baba.  I must have spent literally hundreds of hours just whirling in D2.
Quote from: Borys
Will you WW Koreans with your Baba?
I have so many fond memories of those days with the original D2.  Whirlwind + lance were unstoppable in pre-expansion D2.

The last time I had the game installed was about a year ago, which was when I created my personal best Baba of all time, a BvC on East ladder. His gear:

Helm: Perfect CoA (30 res, 31 DR, double Ber'd)
Armor: Enigma / low str Fort in stash
Gloves: Dracs
Boots: Gores / godly Tri-res boots (35%+ fire/cold/lit res, 30% run/walk)
Weap #1:  Perf 400/40 Grief zerk made in a 15% superior, 15% dura base
Weap #2:  Beast zerk
Belt:  godly rare res / str / life / fhr belt (24% fhr, like two res of 35-40, +45 life, +25 str)
Ammy:  Highlord's / angelic's
Rings:  ravens / Angelic's
Switch weaps:  dual Doom zerks
Stash:  2x 20 sorb wisps, dwarf stars, dungos, etc

Charms:
36 blocks of life / ar / +max dmg charms (insanely godly)
near perf anni, like 20/18/10
perf torch

I sold dude for over $100 when I quit, no joke.
hey

I just realized that this ISN'T "World of Diablo", which seems rather significant. Everyone was scared that Blizzard would do nothing but WoW-clones from now on, but SCII and DIII seem to indicate that non-MMO games are going to live on. :elephant

Did anyone notice how the Siegebeast boss killed 2 player characters? First he picked up a Witch Doctor and slammed him into ground (insta-kill) then, later on, he picked up a Barb and ate his head off.

Damn.

That was fucking amazing to me. They better not nerf or balance it for the crybabies.

TBH I've never played much Diablo but that video got me more excited than anything of late. I want to put D2 on my EEE PC but trying to play with a touchpad didn't work well with Fallout so I can imagine D2 would be even worse.
