If you liked the first, go watch the rest. The first is still my favorite but that may be the nostalgia talking, although the first's twist is definitely my favorite. That was one of the greatest and most OMG twists in cinematic history. I was absolutely blown away beyond belief. The next three all have great twists, too. The fourth has like a few smaller twists instead of one monster twist and it starts to get kinda complicated but it's still great. If you watch them back to back then the fourth won't be complicated because everything will be fresh in your mind.

Have only seen the first two. The first was full of shit dialog and awful acting, but it had a decent twist I guess. The second was a pile of cat diarrhea.

This is even worse than one initially thinks. Every time they make a new Saw, they are in turn providing material to make another Scary Movie sequel.. Just realize, all you filmees, every time you make a bad horror flick, you are in turn making a new Scary Movie sequel. THINK ABOUT IT

What? A good twist is like Citizen Kane- Elegant and obvious afterwards. There's setup, it all makes sense. The end of SAW is just "BET YOU DIDNT SEE THAT FUCKIN COMIN DID YOU I GOT YOU SO GOOD". There's no setup, no clues, just a cheap thrill. Exciting? Yes. Cinema? No.

well, i don't mind if twists aren't 'elegant'... i just want to be blown away, and the original Saw's is one of the best ever, imo.

also, the great saw music that plays just makes it that much more amazing... anyone else love that music? man it's so epic

Shitty movie is shitty. People who like "horror" movies are so willing to overlook crappy film making to get their fill of their favorite genre that it's just very sad. The upside of that is that you can make a bunch of money on it for very little investment, like my friends who sold their flick at Sundance for 2.4 million or whatever.

Have you seen the Saw movies? They are kinda good (for me) in the same way as trashy soap operas. You know it's terrible, and they are demonstrably terrible, but jesus fuck you want to see what sort of shit they pull next. I'd at least give the first 2 a rent. I think that the first movie is a legitimately half-decent thriller. The acting is hit and miss, but the narrative is non-linear enough to at least keep you hooked. The second movie is full on trashy fun. I thought the third one was kind of half-assed all around, so I have not yet checked out the fourth, although the audacity of the concept aq fourth movie will probably have me checking it out sooner rather than later.

I mean, hate things that deserve it, like Transformers and The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump. Saw is trash, but it's the guilty pleasure sort of trash.

That's what I got from most of 3, but the first 2 were pretty entertaining flicks, trash-wise.
