OP, that has the same shit that I have become accustomed to in my time spent unemployed. Earlier this year, I had an interview scheduled with a CPA firm in Chicago (it was called Professional Practice Consultants if anyone's interested) a full four weeks in advance. It was scheduled for a Saturday. I even called the week of the interview to confirm, since it had been awhile and everything was good to go. Then I get a phone call on the Friday afternoon before my interview, saying that they are too busy, but they still want to interview me. I keep calling every few weeks to say that I am still interested, and they keep saying that they want to interview me. After a few months of that bullshit I finally stopped calling back and figured that they were stringing me along.
Also, for all you Kalamazoo natives out there, don't expect to hear anything from Cole & Co. (CPA firm). I have interviewed there twice since last fall and they have yet to send me any type of correspondence about whether I got the job or not. I have followed up with phone calls, only to get an answering machine and never receive anything back. This is unprofessional and twatish in my book.
On the flip side though, I interviewed at Dart Container in Mason, MI and they sent me 2 mileage and expense reimbursement checks totalling $140. It sucks that I didn't get the job, but at least they made it worth my time with those checks.
