When you cast your vote this November, consider this
« on: July 01, 2008, 12:18:53 PM »
We could lose one of America's treasures:

Quote
Stephen Baldwin On Fox News: If Obama Wins, I'll Leave The Country

"What is freaky to me is the media and Hollywood is so convinced that Middle America and mainstream America cares what it thinks," the actor tells Laura Ingraham, after saying that he will leave the country if Obama wins. He went on to criticize Obama's "change" platform and reaffirm his support for John McCain.

Man, just when I thought it wasn't possible for me to want to vote for Obama any more, THIS comes along.  Can we get him to take Ingraham with him?

Stephen Baldwin became a hardcore Christian nutball in 2001 and has a ministry and everything now.  So, he's one of your people.

Quote
Baldwin became a Born Again Christian shortly after the September 11 attacks.[11][12] Since converting, he has sought to evangelize young people through projects such as The Breakthrough Ministry,[13] which involves skateboarding and extreme sports, Christian rock concerts, laser light shows and fireworks. He talks frequently about his conversion experience, which involved a middle-aged Brazilian housekeeper.[14] Unlike his brothers, who are all liberals, Stephen is a conservative.

He currently resides in the village of Nyack, New York, with his wife, Kennya, and their family. In 2006, he launched a campaign to prevent an adult bookstore from opening on the outskirts of the village.[15] In 2006 and 2007 he has made calls to the radio talk show Lionel, the host of which advocates a skeptical view of religion, to tell his story and promote Christianity. In his book, Baldwin expressed the opinion that "You (Bono) would do far more good if you just preached the gospel of Jesus rather than trying to get rid of Third World debt."

In August 2007, Baldwin endorsed Sam Brownback in the 2008 presidential election.[16] After Brownback dropped out of the race, Baldwin began supporting Mike Huckabee instead of frontrunner John McCain, noting that "I just feel like Huckabee is a guy who is somebody, in my opinion, I can trust more because of those faith-based realities."[17

I can only hope that threat isn't implying he'll move to Canada. Most our tv shows are bad enough without tapping guys like him to be the male lead in every one of them.

Stephen also hates gay people.

Well duh, he's a hardcore Christian like Maurice.  Pee Dee, have there been any more updates on the gay brother?  Have you and your parents arranged a day and time to throw rocks at him until he's dead?

fuck the feds, i'm listening to it in the library. rebel rebel rebel

the basic gist:

Fuck up #1: "bububu 2 months ago Obama and Hillary hated each other's guts, now they're best friends. The dems will do anything to get elected!"

I heard this mantra from Hannity and Rush during the weekend - and before you ask: literally the ONLY AM station we got while driving through the rural areas of Michigan was Rush and Hannity's station. McCain and Romney don't like each other either, and were stabbing each other constantly. Now they're "buddies" and there's talk that Romney is #1 on the veep list...OMG REPS WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED RIGHT? Nope, they're just two patriotic Americans who put their differences aside to help keep this country in the steady march of freedom and strength  :american

Fuck up #2: "bububbu why should mainstream, regular americans care what Hollywood actors have to say?!?!"

GOOD POINT BALDWIN *shuts off video*

also he was joking about leaving the country, as a way of making fun of his brother

i absolutely loathe the "lets make christianity COOL" crowd. You should be proud of your religion but that doesn't mean you should become a dumbass poser for Jesus, playing Halo for a "higher purpose" and all that shit. NO NO NO. But I suppose the only way they can attract teens today is to cater to them, making the religion a business. Ah, the target audience likes skateboarding and punk? Let's create a Christian skateboarding tournament and have a Christo-metal core band play for free! smh, just be yourself as Fionna would say

lol, there was a segment on CNN the other night about a group of 20-30 something evangelicals who are dirty hippie looking motherfuckers but luuuurve them some Jesus and I guess still hate the gays, abortions and whatnot despite the fact they look like they just got back from Bonnaroo.

One of the focuses of the piece was this guy Shane Claiborne who drives around the country in a bus that runs on biodiesel and tells people how awesome Jesus is and that it's like, totally bitchin' to love Jesus.  I mean, look at this guy, don't you want to punch him in the fucking mouth:

It's a facade. Any real change would include some basic fucking humanity - like I dunno, accepting the reality that homosexuality is something people are born with, not a lifestyle that justifies second class citizenship and containment. I like the idea of Christians actually caring about being stewards of the earth, and being concerned about poverty and such. We support more than a few ministries in Africa and Asia that rebuild villages and provide food whether the people take a bible or not. I'm slowly losing my faith but I like that type of stuff, and I like the idea of Obama being interested in continuing faith based initiatives: not a fan of being able to FIRE people based on religion, but I see nothing wrong with helping churches make a different as long as they aren't shoving religion down the needy's throats.

I have an acquaintance that spent a bit of time in Cambodia.  He said that the preponderance of faith based groups going in and using religion as a cudgel to get converts was disgusting.  People could go and get free rice from a lot of these groups, but only if they sat through ministries.  A lot of the people, that was the only food they could get.  After Pol Pot, there's a generation of Cambodians growing up who don't know anything about Buddhism and here come these assholes trying to convert them by offering them food they need to eat, but only if they would sit through their bs ministries.  Disgusting.

He did have only good stuff to say about the Catholic ministries there, though.  He said the Catholic missionaries viewed their work as stuff they needed to do to better themselves, not as some way to convert the heathen masses.  In fact he said the Catholics almost actively discouraged conversions amongst the locals.  Scores a couple points to make a dent into the whole boy fucking thing, I guess.

Yup, I've heard similar stories. You're supposed to convert people by being a good example, not by threatening to take people's food away wtf.

I grew up in South Nyack and I've seen him walking around town with his dog and at Nyack College where I went to for a year (it's a small private Christian college).  Never went up to him and talked to him though because I don't like it when people flip out over celebs.

Born Again Christians annoy all the rest of us Christians. Don't compare them. It's just a reinvention of the Highschool social system tied to Walmarts disguised as temples.

It's strange how his conversion happened right after 9/11. I think there are a lot of people out there, some of them celebrities like Mr. Gay Jesus Fish Hat here, and Dennis Miller. The attacks just broke their fucking heads, and they came out of the experience broken.
