2008 is half way done: what are you looking forward to?
« on: July 01, 2008, 09:17:01 PM »
-I can't wait for college football to start up again. I'm really salivating to see Michigan this year. I know we're not going to be good this year but I'm interested in seeing how the spread offense works, as well as the new players adapt to it. Plus I can't wait to see how the new strength and conditioning plays out. :bow

-Fall/Winter semester: just want to get done dammit. I still have a way to go sadly, but I plan on taking 16-20 credits each semester if possible.

-NFL: jeez I just want to watch some football I guess. There isn't much to look forward to when you're a Lions fan but hey, anything is possible if you believe!

-MF DOOM: anything would satisfy me. If I had my wish 2008 would see the release of Madvallain 2, DOOMposter, Doom Starks, DangerDoom...but yea that won't happen  :'(

-ADWD: It's not coming out this year, but fuck just give me something to looking forward to in 2009. Spring 2009 release? Come on

-Thanksgiving: I'm gonna bring her to the family dinner, or maybe I'll go to her family's dinner. Dunno should be entertaining either way

-TDK: :bow

Obama: I'm gonna piggybank on Cheebs, AKA lucky bastard who's an Obama Fellow

- TDK, QoS
- Wimbledon final between Federer and Nadal
- MLB playoffs (even though they won't include the Mets)
- the rest of the summer getting off of work early on Fridays

My friend also brought up a possible trip to Europe, but I don't see it happening.

Jewelers that aren't chain stores, so start asking around for someone who does custom work.  i asked people I knew who own a small design boutique and they gave me the name of someone who did nothing but.  Depending where you are you should be able to find someone fairly easily (or not).  Feel free to pm me if you have any questions etc.

OK, thanks.

I'm in New York so there should be something, unless all the big retailers stamped out the little guys.

Being able to enjoy the winter holidays without skull base surgery looming in the near future, that will be nice. On things, I'm looking forward to an awesome crop of video games this Fall, and hopefully I'll be able to reap enough profit from my overseas paintball business to invest in a laptop. Maybe a trip to LA and SF too.

Lying about what people spend, or lying about that I think it's ridiculous? I'm not lying about either, but I was curious as to which statement you're referring to.

Really and truly, I don't understand people who spend upwards of a few thousand on a ring. I also don't understand why people would buy from Tiffany's, hah. [Even though I did go there to try on rings!]

My parents were married for 20 years in May and my dad is on his third wedding band. He lost his first one when he was in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm. Then he had this bad habit of spinning his ring on a table and slamming his hand on it, and one time the thing bent lol. So this is his third. My mother still has her first one.

I destroyed my first one at my stag party (I'd been wearing the ring for quite some time before the actual ceremony...) when we went to a heavy metal bar in Shinjuku. We ended up pounding the tables all night long while headbanging  :rock - my ring was practically hammered flat after that.

-the release of the new Malazan book, Toll the Hounds promptly on schedule in September.  Then the next two in the following years.  SUCK ON IT MARTIN, YOU PIZZA EATING HACK!
-mostly, tho, I am looking forward to the post-November reality of the Republican party being an essentially meaningless regional afterthought of a political party.  If the Dems can pull off 60 seats in the Senate (a very real possibility) then they're over and done with, you'll probably see the more moderate GOP members (Olympia Snowe, etc) crossing the aisle.  I'm getting a boner just thinking about it.

it was quite disappointing. he can't write like Erikson, and the whole thing is a terrible cocktease. Still worth reading as part of the Malazan tapestry I guess but I passed on his new book in hardcover.
