motorcycles
« on: July 03, 2008, 03:55:02 AM »
My parents got motorcycles a few summers ago. My dad has taken my brother on his bike, but never me. Until today.

It was SO COOL. I never felt like I was going to fall off or anything, which is completely unlike the first time I rode a quad (I swear that Ecro was making whipping turns on purpose to send me flying off). We were going 55mph at one point, too, and I couldn't even tell.

:bow Motorcycles :bow2

Ecrofirt tried to kill you?

I'm barred from ever using a motorcycle or my mother will sodomize me with a twig.

That sounds hawt.  It's like, you're reenacting that seen from Evil Dead but it's by your mom and up your poop hole.  The ultimate torment!

OT: I want a cool motorcycle eventually.  8)

I have a scooter, but I don't really ride it that often. I'd like to get a motorcycle one day.

If I worked in Seattle, I'd totally buy a scooter for the commute.

But since I drive on I-5 daily, no scooter for me.

You guys should talk my wife into letting me move to Seattle.  Then you could all buy a Honda Ruckus, like the one I have and we could start a quasi-gay (no penetration) scooter gang.  Mupepe has to move there too...and Tauntaun cause he makes me hawt  :-*

The ruckus is one of the few non-retro scooters I like. There's a highway legal model I think as well.

No highway legal one, they stopped making the 250 a couple years back.  Only the 50cc, which goes 45 tops....unless you mod it. Only 50cc but fun as hell, and not all the homo.  I drive mine to work and back all day.  Been called names a couple of times, but just flip my wrist and ride on.

Ah bugger. I am not sure if I want a 50cc one or not, even though they get great gas mileage, freeways are part of Cali living.

My sister doesn't use the freeway either, but that is because she's scared of them.

Royal Enfield (made the same way- except for electric start on some models), Yamaha SR500 (with mods), SR250V, maybe some 'retro' Truimphs.

I think what you're looking for is the 'cafe racer' look. Google 'cafe racer' mods or motorcycles or something similar and you should hit up some sites or stores that do that sort of thing.

I fuckin' HATE motorcycles now. One of my neighbours has a fat-ass Harley with no muffler that he revs up for 5 mins before, I swear to God, doing one lap 'round the block before going back home. This is usually just long enough to wake our baby after we finally get her to sleep. He's been ordered to install a muffler by the police but hasn't complied. Sugar in the gas tank, I'm thinking... :ninja

Also, we get newspaper delivery guys coming around on scooters at 5 am, which usually wakes me up. Getting a paper to read over breakfast is nice and all, but is it REALLY FUCKING WORTH waking up the entire neighborhood?  Use the goddamn internets motherfuckers :punch

I fucking love my motorcycle. If you're thinking of getting a scooter, don't. Just get like a light weight 650cc motorcycle. Mine gets around 55-60 mpg, and you don't have to feel like a homo. I almost bought a scooter but I'm so glad I didn't. My motorcycle didn't even cost that much more than one, brand new.

Long story short, everyone go buy a motorcycle.

Also, in response to the post directly above me, mine's a belt drive and is nice and quiet :)

My mom has a 250cc hahaha. My dad's is an 800.

Hey, I understand that a Harley sounds cool. I just wish there were more considerate riders like Spencer. Your gas tank is safe from me!

Loud exhausts are used so that other drivers know that there is a motorcycle behind them even if they can't see them.

Does she take it on the freeway? I would crap myself! haha 800 is a good size.

She does, on Interstate-81, every day it isn't raining or very cold. Her commute to work is like 20 minutes up the highway. She also frequently rides it up Giant's Despair, a really steep and windy road up the side of a mountain around here. [Okay, not quite a mountain--it's a little over 1,900 feet high, and to be classified as mountain it needs to be 2,000 feet high, so it's really just a big hill. But the road up that one side is a really steep incline and it's really windy. People can never believe she rides a 250 up that thing.]

She's a small woman, so she doesn't dwarf the bike or anything. She took my dad's 800 to work the other day because her bike wouldn't start. When she was going home, she knocked it over as she was coming out of the parking lot and couldn't lift it back up herself, lol.

Loud exhausts are used so that other drivers know that there is a motorcycle behind them even if they can't see them.

That's the thing. It sucks that bikes are so loud, especially in the city and at night when things are quiet, but it's a necessary evil. Cormacaroni's neighbor is a huge douche, but at the same time, I bet he's safer while riding because people driving cars and big SUVs are aware of him.
