I honestly wonder what truly goes through that man's mind. I think developing Too Human for 10 years across 3 different platforms went to his head, and not in a good way. I don't think I've seen anyone take a videogame message board on the internet so seriously. The way he talks about his game/his reputation makes him sound no better than egocentric indy developers like Luc Bernard.

To put oneself in his spot, though, it must be incredibly stressful and heartbreaking to develop a game for so long and have your efforts be thwarted by the general gaming public. It still blows my mind they decided to make it a trilogy.

I've always maintained that I hope Too Human turns out well, but that Dyack is a gigantic jackass. I don't see the problem with making fun of the guy when he is giving interviews like the one in EGM that accompanied Too Human's unveiling, a month before the disastrous E3 showing. If he wants to be treated with respect, maybe he should either become likable or shut up. If Dyack hadn't, I dunno, tried doing his own PR again, I doubt I, personally, would have said much about him being mentally deficient. As it stands, he is mentally deficient and he deserves the shit he's eating.

The forums make it personal because he makes it personal. There is a deal between gaming forums and developers: We mock your games and you stay the fuck away. He is the one who make the shit get real. Even before Gaming forums he bitched about bad previews for his shitty early demo at E3 2006. He called for preview staff to get fired. To top it all off, despite all the nonsense he said about his game, he later came out and called that shit he was defending terrible in order to blame it on Epic.

Other developers post on gaf, but no one else is as stupid as he is to make it personal. Jaffe gets involved at times, but he never goes this far into it. Jaffe shrugs it off as a a joke. Dennis cries about it while taking bubble baths with no tears shampoo. He tracked down a poster for talking negative about his game.

Don't even try to pin this on the forum posters making this personal, he is the one who caused the escalation.

Nice rant by Denis. Yeah, he's a little crazy, but I'm not sure why people are so butthurt over it. He's a very genuine interview. In a world of PR-speak I can really appreciate that. Especially when the argument is articulate and interesting to listen to. He's basically the polar opposite of David Jaffe, and maybe this is why the GAF (in general) hates him so much.

Why would people who are genuinely interested in the game boycott said game based on what he says in the press. Do they also obstain from watching a film by a director who has opinions contrary to their own?
