Valve hid it in Eli's skull. It'll be easy to find it now, without all the brains in the way.

Just wait until E3...oh wait.  :(

Sometime after Left 4 Dead, so in other words, sometime between now and the end of the universe.

What a cheap, stupid ending Ep2 has.

Ep2 had an awesome ending. But we probably won't find out what happens until at least 2010.  :'(

There's nothing awesome about murdering a main character with a bunch of flying brains at the last second. It's like something out of Futurama.

After Ep1 and Ep2 I'm not sure I give a shit about Ep3. And that's from someone who considers HL2 to be absolutely incredible, although maybe that's why I was disappointed with the episodes; I expected some leap that just never happened, and instead got a pair of reasonable good shooters.

I think the episodes are clearly superior to HL2, but I'm one of those guys firmly entrenched in the HL1 >>> HL2 camp.

Oh come on, it was awesome. They even foreshadowed it a little. Eli was all, "Oh Gordon, you're like my son, as soon as you get back I'll explain everything!"

What a cheap, stupid ending Ep2 has.

In terms of how awesome the endings have been so far, I would say HL2 had the best, then episode 1, then episode 2, then the awful mess that was the ending of HL1.  I haven't played the expansions of HL1 in a while, so I can't recall them.

HL2 ending was amazing.  The entire end sequence with the powered up gravity gun as you are tossing people around is amazing.  Last part of episode 2 was boring for me.  I mean, they pretty much did that thing before with the movable turrets and antlion section (at least they didn't use that music this time around).  It was such a dull fight against dull enemies.

I do think HL2 ep 2 did have the best shoot out of HL2 so far in the area where you needed to connect power cables and had this chunk of land with houses all around to go between.

And I don't care much for character interaction in HL2 if only because Gordon Freeman makes Master Chief seem like a good character.  Why Alyx or anyone else would want to hang around with this mute jackass who stands on your head as they talk to you is just confusing.

Yeah, but that's terrible foreshadowing. That's 1980s cop movie foreshadowing.

Hey, you hear that? Sounds like something's going on at the old refinery. Probably just kids messing around. Let's go check it out."

Um, did you just compare Gordon, a deliberately mute, thematically off-hands, blank slate, player avatar to the bullshit failed-Duke-Nukem-character that is Master Sheeef?

wtf was that a quote in my post.  Weird.

but I am saying that as horrible as Master Chief is as a character, Gordon Freeman is makes him seem like a reasonably decent one.  And I don't care if he is deliberately mute, he is still a bad character.  If he is meant to reflect the player, then I guess never talking to Alyx is a pretty good way of digging at the nerds playing it.  I don't think non-speaking characters are naturally bad, but in Half-Life's case they have you interacting with other people, yet it is ridiculous in those scenes.  An example of good characterization for a non-speaking character who is to represent the player is Portal.  Portal should be taught in school about how to do good video game story telling.

Portal didn't really have much of a story though...

It was just like... do these trials with the portal gun, the omnipresent computer is evil (I couldn't see THAT one coming :P), find it and destroy it.

The barn scene in Episode 2 is the single most masterful argument for games as art. There's nothing else like it. It's like playing a David Lynch movie

If Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and 2 were ONE game, it would be the best game ever.

I usually hate fps games, but HL is somewhat very appealing.

Can't wait for Ep3.
