The game has some pretty good graphics. It's weird though, there was a spot there with a lot of grass, then other spots are just plain, and when it's plain it looks kinda ugly.

But aside from that, pretty awesome graphics, and i was just playing crysis. The game looks fun too, in a weird way.

Indeed. Although I wouldn't exclude visuals from the list of, uh, exclusions. It's still a fucking Rare mess.

I think the game looks pretty good (art style clashing notwithstanding), but with how the OA crew have been hyping up "rare's 360 engine," it's not so much more impressive than multiplatform games that you'd be like WOW XENOS unless you were waiting to OMG XENOS anyway.

i'm thinking yes. it's 39.99 in the system right now (according to gaf sources), so IMO that means it'll be 39.99 w/o waggle wand, 59.99 with, and the wand will be available separately.

EDIT:  $20 for the stick makes sense if they want to get it into more than a couple thousand hands, and if you'll need more than one for certain games the price of the pair falls into "regular controller price" territory

plus i bet it gets packed in with the arcade sku starting this fall

You want Microsoft to actively come up with something original?  Expect HD ports of Wii games and some shoddy Wii Sports ripoff using the avatars or another aesthetically displeasing cartoony character.

And unless Rare is pulling a fast one on us, I don't really see how this game would benefit from a waggle controller.  I mean, Wii see that Kazooie can pick up objects, and maybe if they expanded that to use during combat almost like a Boom Blox way, that would be cool but I still doubt it.

if it fits the hands well and can be used on normal 360 games, i might like it better than a regular controller

i have always been interested in the "split" styled controllers, but they've all been designed poorly so far

If games do support two control methods, then I would be interested.  I mean, the only game that makes me want both Sony and Microsoft to have a pointer/motion controller is Resident Evil 5.  RE4 on the Wii was phenomenal with how it controls compared to the standard controller.  It didn't have the problem that Metroid Prime or other shooters had also where turning became awkward or anything like that.  I think both RE4 and Link's Crossbow Training are the only two games on the Wii that makes me surprised by how good a pointer can be.

Ohshi- more possible evidence for Xmote. During the first video, you see Kazooie playing on a 360, and she looks like she's getting frustrated with the controller. Suddenly Lobb says, "There's a bit more to that, but let's jump right in" and the video switches to gameplay.

I'd love a pointer for RE5.  Gears of War was the only other game I thought would be great with a pointer - it would let me aim a lot quicker when I pop out of cover.

i had re4 for wii - thought it was okay, the only problem for me was when enemies got close and i started flailing like a spastic to get them off me

After watching that video though, I can already tell this game is gonna have a lot of collectathon stuff (well, it's Rare after all) and awkward-to-navigate hub worlds. Fuck, we need more straight-up platformers, Mario Galaxy had the right idea for like 80% of the game.

The collecting actually means something, though.  They're parts.  You can upgrade vehicles, create totally new vehicles, and lots of other stuff, I'm sure.  Imo, "collectathons" are only bad if the collecting is meaningless... as if you're just doing it for some arbitrary reason like to reach a certain number or whatever (certain XBL achievements come to mind).  But if the collecting is an integral part of the gameplay as is the case here, I don't have a problem with it, know what I'm saying?

I'd say "never forget," but most of Rare's work in recent years has made it hard to ever gain much distance from the realized concept of developing games without art directors on staff.

Rare had problems with Kameo's artistic direction but Banjo looks alright to me.  It's not like there's a lot of competition in the platforming genre.  SMG is last gen and even PS3 R&C had some stuff that was kinda ugly.

Rare have been very hit-and-miss with their games since at least part way through the N64 generation, so who knows what will happen.

Ratchet isn't really a platformer.  I think the age of true mascot platformers is dead.  Even upcoming platformers like Prince of Persia and...I can't really think of anything else.

And for what its worth, Banjo looks pretty damn good for a Rare game.  PDZ was them trying to put effects to cover up their shitty artwork.  Kameo was vomit.  Viva Pinata did look pretty good, but Banjo looks a bit better.  It is odd that these guys aren't pumping out great graphics on the 360 when Conker looks phenomenal on the original Xbox.

And my only complaint with this Banjo game is that Rare is wasting the idea of customizable vehicles on it.  What sounds more fun here:  Upgrading a vehicle to climb a steep hill -or- Upgrading a vehicle to destroy a city.

Kameo was terrible for different reasons.  First, the art style was awful and probably some of the worst this gen if not all time.  Second, Rare saw fit to apply so many effects to it to make it seem 'next-gen' that it was ridiculous'.  Third, Rare needs to realize that colors are fantastic (see Mirror's Edge), but extreme amounts of it with a lot of saturation makes it look awful.

i played kameo and wasn't impressed by anything.  people claim it is beautiful and stuff and i just don't see it at all. 

and what the fuck was up with the first part of the game?  you control all the different forms and can use all those skills, you go through the level and beat the boss, and then it throws you into basic fucking movement tutorials?!

It looks interesting and definitely is its own thing (unlike certain other games) which is definitely a plus to me, but I don't like the harsh color palette. Makes it look uglier than it technically is. The second video does look more pleasing due to the lighting conditions.

I still like Rare and think that most everything they've done has been pretty good.  IMO the only real stinker they've released in the last 8 years or so has been Kameo.  Sure PDZ's single player was dogshit too but the multiplayer more than made up for it....I think I ended up playing it for 4 months straight. 

Hell, I'd even go for some Grabbed by the Ghoulies on XBLA.  Loved that game.  Totally underappreciated too.

Hey, Ghoulies was a lot more fun than people gave it credit for.  It was like a more fleshed out and deeper version of Zombies Ate My Neighbors.  Good stuff.
