nobody knows what the game is about yet. looks like you play from a top down perspective and rescue people. speculation is that the location shown in-game is where they are actually playing it in japan. could be really cool.

edit: starting to read the articles with my should-be-better japanese. yeah, they aren't spoiling what type of game it is.

bar on the HUD is your stamina bar. you can zoom out with R buttons. triangle is the dash button. can't read kanji for the x and o buttons.

edit: description under o button might mention 'zombie' if i see that correctly.

the mission complete screen mentions --

total number of people rescued (out of like 3000)

line bonus (?)

VIP (with 4 person icons)

I don't think they actually use Google Earth to set it in where you live. I could be wrong, but it seems more like the stages and locations are already preset as levels, and they're using Google Earth to make it more realistic.

Very odd. But really cool to see a game for the PS3 being developed under such circumstances. It's definitely peaked my interest. And I like their logo. No idea what kind of a game it is though lol. They don't give away any specifics.

There's a gameplay video on the Japanese PSN Store now. It looks really awesome. It's a top down arcade style game like expected, but people literally POUR out of their houses as you run past and they start forming a looooong line behind you. It looks crazy and the "zombies" are actually GIANT monsters roaming the streets that kill people. Looks fucking amazing.

9.0    Presentation
The first time you play, a voice over TV color bars tells you about the downfall of society. The mission screen has all the vital info for you to see at a glance. You can jump into levels.
7.5    Graphics
This is a simple game, but the city maps look great, and the way the crowd goes from following to freaking out is nice. The zombies and the last guy aren't the most detailed, but they look good.
8.5    Sound
There is only a handful of tracks in the game, but they never get old. The in-game song is catchy; the 8-bit effects are fun; and even when I died for the tenth time, the death music cracked me up.
9.0    Gameplay
Getting people from Point A to Point B is a simple concept, but The Last Guy uses level layouts, zombies, and strategy to make it something much, much more.
8.5    Lasting Appeal
I've beaten the game, and I can't wait to download it on Thursday and go after every VIP, every secret level, the leaderboards, and all 9,999,999,999 survivors I can have.
