I like lotsa classical music.

Uh, Sonic Youth, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Morrissey, The Smiths, Eno, Bowie, Talking Heads, The Stooges, Depeche Mode, New Order. Music, for me, according to my listening habits, seems to die out in the early-to-mids 90s. Lotsa indie shit, too, but I am assuming Boogie doesn't want to hear that.

You know I love you, Cohen, but I fail to see how Portishead and Pulp are at all alike. I love Portishead, but Pulp has never done a ton for me. No slant on Pulp--they are likely just not my thing--but they are 90s britpop, a category which you'd have to be high on PCP to squeeze Portishead into.

I keep Different Class and This is Hardcore on my iPod, but I find I very rarely listen to them. I mean, if caught in some sort of musical bear trap, I'd probably take Think Take over them. At the same time, I am pretty sure the Manics have not released a truly interesting album this decade. I think Blur called it quits at the right time. Well, an album too late, I suppose.

I like a great deal of Think Tank, but yeah, the Manics output in the 00's hasn't be stellar. Know Your Enemy and Lifeblood had some good tracks, but Send Away the Tigers was rubbish.

The Verve was my go-to band for Britpoppin'. The first two albums are more shoegaze/dream pop, but Urban Hymns is one of the preeminent Britpop records. It's a bit surprising that they're often neglected when other big names of the genre are brought up.

I've been pretty much out of the loop music wise the last year or so, but to me one of the best bands that's active now is my morning jacket. All it takes is a listen to Z to see that these guys know how to make a pop song. They've got a new album out now but I've yet to listen to it.

I saw them at Pukkelpop (big festival here, better than Werchter) a few years ago and they pretty much blew everyone away who performed that night, even Radiohead. The live version of Anytime was magnificent
