The first widely available piece of concept art for the final episode of Valve's Half-Life 2 saga has been uncovered via the 2008 IntoThePixel E3 art gallery.

The piece--created by Valve artists Ted Backman, Jeremy Bennett, and Tristan Redford--appears to show Half-Life hero Gordon Freeman within a large Citadel-like environment, a Combine Advisor looming ominously overhead.

IntoThePixel's website labels the art as related to "Half Life EP3," with platforms listed as PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Valve has been mum about the final episode in the trilogy since the release of Episode Two last year. Episode Three will reportedly not be appearing at E3, though Valve will be making an appearance at the event to show off its zombie shooter Left 4 Dead.

You're thinking about Left 4 Dead. The porting to PS3 is all up to EA, Valve is only concerned with PC and 360. Left 4 Dead is a new IP that's why it's not getting a PS3 port atm. EA is confident enough in HL2 to dedicate a port team for it.

They should stick L4D and episode 3 on one disk for PS3 owners then.  I mean, like any sane person I will be picking this up for PC, but still they should consider it.

I'm a little dissapointed that they're going back to the well with the DYSTOPIAN SCI-FI SPACE SHIP look. Episode 2 Barn level was so wonderful. But I'm sure they'll make it sing.

pretty sure ep3 will take place on that boat they alluded to

the leaked hl2 beta had boat segments which have yet to be used
and artic setting stuff too, im sure they didnt just scrap that stuff never to be used again

yeah i doubt the climax will happen on the boat though.  i remember playing around on that level from the leaked alpha

i hope they all reintroduce the female elite soldiers who act more like ninja.  and the hydra was pretty cool too.  forget the name, but there's also this monster character thing--doctor themed or something.  round head.
