Batman comics: The Long Halloween

Just finished this. I don't know... felt like the journey was more fullfilling than reaching the destination. Finally it's revealed who the holiday killer is, only to confuse everything again in the final pages. I usually like open endings if done right, but the final part felt like such a cop out. Next up on my Batman reading list: all star batman and the boy wonder. already read: dark knight, strikes again, year one and arkham asylum. I like DNR best so far.

I like Dark Victory better than The Long Halloween.  No idea what the public opinion is on the comparison.

I remember Killing Joke from when I was a kid. That's about the extent of my Batman knowledge.  :(

man it is fuck awful

i'm absolutely convinced that frank miller is just being a twat with that series and giving people what they think they want from him.

it's just so absolutely ridiculous.

i enjoy me some batman, but my tastes tend towards classic stuff really.

Batman and the Madmonk
BATMAN AND THE MONSTER MEN Softcover

BATMAN: A DEATH IN THE FAMILY Softcover (meh, but it leads to the below)

BATMAN: A LONELY PLACE OF DYING Softcover

BATMAN: DETECTIVE (paul dini of the animated series does several one shot storylines.  very nice, very accessible.  the later issues are kind of lame, but the ones here are quite good)

BATMAN: STRANGE APPARITIONS

BATMAN: THE CULT (out of print, sadly)

BATMAN: YEAR ONE

my absolute FAVORITE stuff is the neal adams stuff from the 70s but it's only available as $50 hardcovers.  so i can't really suggest those in good conscience.

check out the Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told, vol 1 and 2.  Both have good cross sections of various era Batman stories

i agree. i loved everything until the final reveal. total letdown.

Year One is still my favorite. I thought DKR was kind of overrated.

I loooove Year 100 for some reason (check the av), but I dunno how popular it is.  I guess Great Rumbler digs it!
Long Halloween was very enjoyable, but the mystery without any logical solution is ultra lame.  Still a good comic in my opinion.  Dark Victory is good too.

Year One is great.
