btw, my short list of best ww2-era wargames of the last few years:
Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin or CM:Afrika Corps (simultaneous turn-based, squad/ company level.)
Airbone Assault: Conquest of the Agean or Airborne Assault: Highway to the Reich (real-time pausable, mostly battalion or regiment level operations. Has some really cool features like chain of command and delayed orders. Very pretty to look at as well).
Advance Tactics: World War 2 - Half hardcore The Operational Art of War-style wargame, half Advanced Wars. One of the most accessible hex-based games for newcomers I've seen since the old Panzer General games. Features operations on all scales much like TOAW does.
The Operational Art of War 3 - The hardest game I've ever taught myself, though I am currently eyeing one that's even more nuts (War in the Pacific). Amazing game once you "get" how it works and accept the fact that one turn of a game can, in some scenarios, take longer than the average playthrough of a console action game nowadays.
Oh, and Korsun Pocket, which is sort of somewhere between Advance Tactics and TOAW3 in difficultly and is really satisying to play (and I come back to it from time to time, it's a small install anyway). Great engine for wargaming.
