InBev to Buy Anheuser-Busch for $49.9 Billion

Can't wait to see what the shiwit American-first pundits have to say about that. I'll be sure to remind my conservative friends with bad taste that, when they swill that shitty Budweiser, not only are they supporting a land of kings but also the very heart of the European Union-complete with its hidden agenda to reconquer and "re-colonize" America-itself!

Seriosuly though, I'm glad it happened. Busch beers are just beyond shitty, if they just threw out all of the Bud and replaced it with Stella (the "bud of belgium, as my wife calls it), we'd be a much better off country.

I wonder how Bud will change gears when they can't use the 'All American' angle. Super Bowl commercials should be interesting.

Bud will stick around as a brand, of course. Though I with they'd just replace it with Stella and tell Joe Six-Pack that he long nightmare of shitty beer is at an end.

It's still business as usual at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery:

Maybe the Belgians will add in bitter redneck tears, making Budweiser finally drinkable.

I'm kind of concerned what this means to the company I work for since AB is a big client of ours. I would venture to say a 3rd of the money we made this year was from AB.

i went on a number of beer factory/beer history tours whilst in Belgium.

General theme : two grades of beer produced - one to meet the stringent purity laws for mainland europe, one to be sold to the UK suckers/export that doesn't need to meet the same requirements.

Not necessarily. I have no problems sourcing "real deal" trappist ales and lambics here in the US (and other beers too, that's generally all we drink here though).

As far as I am concerned this is great news.  Fuck A-B and their shit practices...of course In-Bev is probably no better.

Anheuser-Busch doesn't bottle Heineken or Blue Moon, so I think I'm safe.

Someone kill Corona, PLEASE.

Oddly enough, if I remember right, Corona helped to kill A-B.

Corona is owned by Modelo - who refused to sell a majority share to A-B so that they could fight the In Bev takeover.

it's weird, Modelo distributes Pacifico as well as Corona, both beers are very more competing in the same space and, well, it takes no dummy to know that Pacifico beats the living piss out of Corona.

Guess they keep it around for the brand name. At least they could just sell the same thing in both brands, better beer for all.

Pacifico takes a giant shit all over Corona.

What is wierd to me is that A-B distributes Landshark, Bud Lime, Tequiza, and probably more that I am forgetting about - which all compete for the same market.  I fucking hate beer distributors in general with their shitty practices.

Bud sucks anyways so whatever.  Give me something dark like Guinness. :drool

These are tasty too.  Really good with pizza.  Beer and pizza go together like Africa and Aids.

whenever I make pizza I always snag two bottles of Ommegang's Rare Vos to wash it down. Yeah it's a "domestic Belgian" but damn if it isn't the perfect pizza beer for beer snobs.

oh god now I want a Rodenbach Grand Cru. It's been so long (six months?) and it is like the best beer ever.

where do you get your good beers?

usually I can source stuff without a problem from some of the speciality foodie stores here in the area I live in. "Big Box" wine stores also work in a pinch, easy to get some decent stuff (real deal belgian-bottled trappist ales, decent lambics) without too much hassle.

That Grand Cru I mentioned requires a trip into Durham to get, which I don't do too often since I hate all cities with a passion.

But if you're looking for something locally, drop by your local warehouse-sized wine store and head to the import beer isle. If it is any good they'll be some good beers for sure.

I like Bud Light.  Only because once you pound down several shots of alcohol, Bud Light has no taste once you are hammered.  So it is the perfect alcohol to control your drunkenness.

By itself?  Hell no.
