the real losers are any developers who were force marched into putting out playable demos for an unappreciative press to play and write terrible previews for.

What a huge waste of time. Any publisher who pulled out of the ESA and E3 is doing the right thing for its employees.

+ Microsoft showed actual gameplay of actual games that people were interested in
+ Solid lineup
+ Had the only megaton / surprise
- Their biggest news was a port of a game thats over a year off, Mii-rip-offs and a dashboard redesign geared towards online competitions ("win real prizes") and wallet raping Netflix / Tv / Video bullshit

+ Nintendo showed games that the casual / mainstream press will felate them over, that will sell in the millions when they come out
- They showed fuck all else, and gave absolutely nothing to hardcore gamers
- Revealed little about their lineup
- Cammie Dunnaway "BLAH BLAH BLAH MY WRIST BLAH BLAH" etc
- Wii Noise

+ Sony's video montages of games for PSP, PSN and PS3 were all great.
+ Their lineups are solid.
- They showed a lot of CG bullshit again though, and their biggest news was a PSN Store overhaul geared towards wallet raping TV/Video bullshit.

All in all, this expo has been total horseshit so far. A fucking abomination. E3 needs to be shitbinned... Nintendo aren't taking it seriously anymore, and the other two are more concerned with social networking schemes, and TV/Video downloads.

Sony, simply because it didn't take advantage of everything it has. I like Tretton, but given the choice, I'd certainly prefer watching more game demonstrations and trailers. We all know there is a shitload of material there, yet very little of it made it into the show in a good way. The conference itself wasn't bad, just not what I think it could have been. Using LBP as a demonstration tool was pretty brilliant though.

I haven't really seen Sony and Nintendo's things this year, but Microsoft seemed to have a good showing which is a surprising turnaround from their usual snore-fest E3 showing.

Honestly, the biggest news items that came out of the conferences came from (surprisingly) the MS side with the 16:10 support, redesigned UI, mii-esque avatars, full game installs eliminating drive spin noise, and their partnership with Netflix (something that I'll DEFINITELY be using). The FFXIII announcement is really only good for internet lols but it certainly made things fun.

Game wise, I thought Sony and MS were pretty much even.

I happened to have been force marched into putting out a version of our non-game-related software for a demo our boss wanted to give some potential customers today, two weeks into a project he originally told me I'd have three months for. $:-\$
