this is the first game they are doing with the "untested" director. basically they could only get SEGA to fork over the monies for the 360 project, so this is on wii. still, looks really damn cool.

i'm presold on everything platinum games does, but i hope there's more to this than a cool visual style and a bunch of mortal kombat fatalities. then again it is AN ACTUAL GAME FOR WII, which is sort of like a faberge egg laid by a talking condor on a polar icecap

It's hard to sell less than nil, but No More Heroes did manage to be Grasshopper's best-selling game so you can take that for what it's worth.

I appreciate that they are going for something unique here, but this particular style feels really messy. I'd say cluttered, but that's obviously not a good term for something as basic as this, but the damned thing is giving me a headache already.

The gore factor looks like it's campy and over the top, and the last time this team made a campy and over the top game, it was God Hand, which was amazing.

It's hard for my eyes to distinguish between the background, the main character and enemies when I see it in motion. Oh, and the art style is pretty horrible, too.

dunno what to make of this -- the mortal kombat violence does nothing for me, and it remains to be seen whether busy black and white graphics in low resolution are a workable idea. and there's always the threat that waggle will spoil things. but it's from clover people, and if i don't take chances on interesting but patchily-realized games in the no more heroes vein, i won't end up playing any wii games at all

I don't have any problem distinguishing objects from the background. Then again, I'm slightly color-blind, and supposedly we're somewhat better at distinguishing patterns, textures, and shapes.

I think the art style works with it because the camera is fixed behind the character. As long as that is always a constant, it won't get confusing.
