I never played the original, Wild Tangent doesn't excite me. Is this a good game for real?

Wild Tangent shouldn't scare you away.  Fate is good stuff. . .it was made by the people that went on to Mythos.  I'm guessing this is more of an expansion pack than anything, so it should be good.
