Today, the community pool was littered with kids. Mostly Asian, because the area has quite the Asian community. So when the wife asked if I wasn't going to join her and my kid in the pool, I loudly stated, thinking that I was making a reasonably clever crack on kids urinating in the water, that there was too much yellow in the water. I heard several *gasps*, figuring then that it must have indeed been a clever joke. Only later did I realize how incredibly racist it must have sounded to the shit ton of mothers sitting by the poolside. It doesn't help that I basically look like a skinhead.

So, does anyone else have any accidental racist stories of their own, to make me feel less singled out?

The thought occurred, but then I rather quickly realized that the only reasonable explanation would involve me calling their kids dirty and incontinent. Assuming that they would fail to buy into the explanation in the first place, I'd then not only be considered a racist, but a racist who insults other people's basic hygiene and manners.

That's hilarious.

I made a rather sexist comment the other week in front of a woman who I later found out is a bit of a feminist. I'm not a receptionist but I was answering the phone a lot on a particular day and I joked to my boss that he should get me a skirt.

The woman was in the same room and didn't seem to see the funny side of it. I kind of forgot she was there.

I've often made fat jokes in front of fat friends and then felt like a complete tool. Also, I was kidding my friend once that he fucks his dad and then remembered that his dad died the week before...

It reminds me of the time we were on a conference call with our PR firm. THere is always small talk at the beginning while waiting for everyone to get on the call. Our company owner, a huge Yankee fan, refered to the Red Sox signing of Dicek Matzuzaka as another chink in the yankee's armor.

one time there was a group of people and i was speaking to my friend and asked him where he got his food from and he replied the chinese and me being cool started to go "...the where?" and pretended to wretch as though i was going to be sick and he kinda looked at me and shook his head cos there was a chinese guy next to him

Well, I think nearly all of the chefs and waitresses and employees of Japanese restaurants over here are Korean. We don't really have a big Japanese population at all over here.

There's a good amount in Bergen, NJ and Westchester, NY I believe.
