My friends and I used to enjoy making wacky characters in the create-a-wrestler in the old PS1 RAW game, and making drink bets on the outcome of matches. While they usually made boring "realistic" characters, I made The Incredible Hulk, Lex Luthor, and an ashy african-american emaciated female wrestler wearing a $$ sign bikini named Crack Ho. There was some WWF/E game for the Xbox we invested in, and discovered you could set the CPU vs. CPU option so you didn't even have to play anymore (which was great, because we're all sort of lazy about learning moves and shit, preferring to spend that time making more wacky wrestlers and constructing elaborate ring entrances with custom soundtracks). We just watched the game play itself and made the drink bets on that. For this game I made George Clinton and Bootsie Collins, aka Tag Team Mothership. We haven't chipped in on a wrestling game since.
Now they are both buying PS3s, and I have a couple of questions about the Smackdown vs. Raw games, since we're thinking about chipping in on the 2009 one coming out:
1. Can you still set the CPU vs. CPU option and just watch the match?
2. Is the create-a-wrestler pretty deep? Custom ring entrances, costumes, body selection, etc? This time I intend to make a "Jazz Greats" stable of wrestlers, including Fats Waller, Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie, and Ella Fitzgerald.
