microsoft excel is the 3rd most run application on my computer, right behind Internet Explorer and Company of Heroes.
The funny part is that you are probably using Excel to strategerize in hardcore grognard strategy games.
this is 95% correct. I finished up my first run of hearts of iron 2 production spreadsheets a couple of weeks ago. when playing MMOs I also used excel extensively for bookeeping the guild, specifically in regards to dues/outlays and the resulting cash flow.
I started on one a couple of nights ago to help optimize my Children of the Nile play. I was having a hard time putting together proper prefab "blocks" for specific purposes in the game due to the innate restriction on villager populations, and needed some additional tooling to better optimize the construction of my cities.
It's important to note that the Excel UI makes doing this stuff ridiculously easy. I wouldn't bother if it was hard work, but I can literally come up half of the equations while working out, and then entering them into excel when I get done with my exercise in a very short amount of time.
