I am really conflicted right now.

Super hyped for FFIV (it'll be my first time playing the game), but I also need to get Trauma Center 2. I played the demo for TC2 today (it's on the Nintendo Channel), and it's the same awesome gameplay that made me love the first one.

I agree with the topic title. If only for the fact I'm playing FFIV right now and who the hell knows when I'll get to play FFXIII. Also FFIV is guaranteed to please me, while FFXIII could be another FFXII.

Why all the FF3 hate? Yeah, the story and presentation were sorely lacking, as was the dual screen functionality, but outside of FFT it had the best job system in a FF game. But I guess you could also argue that the job system in FF3 was about as unbalanced as the one in FFT as well.

It was just a shoddy remake is all.

And I enjoyed FF12 for the most part.

I'm a big fan of the original Famicom FF3, I didn't like in the remake how there were only 3 or 4 onscreen enemies at a time, compared to the sometimes overwhelming odds in FF3 Famicom. Also wasn't a fan of the 3D graphics in the remake, I would've much preferred a touched-up 2D remake like FF1+2 Dawn of Souls.

The gameplay was crap. Gambit system is possibly the worst idea ever. Dungeons were boring and needlessly large, bosses were tedious, story was boring political crap that ultimately rendered the main character useless. I loved its art, and its music was ok, even if a little 'stock ff'.
