Is anyone here excited about this? It looks kind of neat.

The E3 conference showed quite enough. I'm sure it will be fun for comic book nerds, but it looked pretty shitty. Maybe that's how MMOs are supposed to look.

It's like BioShock ate a comic book and then shat it out.

I'm interested because you can fight against Batman and it was compared to Crackdown in some preview during E3.

This is also on PC so don't hate it, xfags.

The character models are taken straight out of comics so you can't just shout BAD ART, LOL.

And apparently, they took the flying "animation" straight out of the comics too.

the flying animation is no worse than the animation in any other MMO.  WoW mounts are the same, city of heroes was the same.

i got my superhero mmo fix from CoH and don't have any desire to return.

Here's a good, thorough article about DC Universe Online.  After reading it I am really looking forward to this game.

http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/the-amazing-world-dc-universe-online

Quote
Given the chance to mess around in Metropolis, it quickly becomes clear that Crackdown has loomed as large as EverQuest in Austin’s thinking. The same focus on physics and verticality is uncanny, and we’re soon yanking off satellite dishes and zipping around the rooftops like we’ve never been away. The wide avenues, gleaming golden light and sleek art deco skyscrapers may be unmistakable to fans of the comic books, but the inherent gameplay strongly invokes Crackdown’s own Pacific City.

 :hyper :hyper :omg :hyper :hyper

here's another good quote:

Quote
Playing a frantic and impromptu four-versus-four, DCUO couldn’t be more different from most MMOs. It’s fast and messy, but player powers come together to create plenty of surprises. Ad-hoc combos are the order of the day: someone might turn you into an ice block, then, before you can escape, the ice block, which has become a physics object, is picked up by someone else and lofted across the room into an altogether innocent bystander.

fucking other players up then using their bodies as weapons against another player =  :hyper

plus, this game is still probably a year away

Well, that still doesn't make it good. That's like saying that Too Human combat looks good enough, because of traditions of the genre.

I'm gonna make Patrick Bateman and be a villain trying to kill Batman.  I will use an Axe and Nail gun to get it done.

Do console MMORPGS have monthly fees?  I might give this a try.  I got sick of Age of Conan but it was pretty fun for 20 hrs.

i'm sure there will be fees of some sort

ideally i would like to see a tiered price structure, something like:

10 hours of gameplay per month = $4.95

10-20 hrs = $9.95

unlimited hours = $14.95

because while i'm sure i'll spend time playing it, i generally don't play games for more than an hour or so at the time

IGN has a bunch of gameplay footage up.

Despite being a tad janky, it looks pretty awesome for an MMO.

Could be cool. Hell, I played City of Heroes for a period of time, I'm sure I'll try this out once it hits.
