Depressing day
« on: July 23, 2008, 03:18:33 PM »
Anyone work at a place with a lot of temps?  We bring temps in and out in cycles throughout the year, and today was the last day of our summer busy cycle which basically started in Feb in earnest.  We're dead now until Oct, so they just let ALL the temps out.  We're now down to a skeleton crew until Oct, except our company is getting bought out before then.  So although it looks like the buyout will help our business, you really never know until it goes down.

For all I know this might be the beginning of the end of this place.

That said, it's always a sad day when the temps are let out, the place seems so quiet and empty.

Where is this?

I work in a warehouse.

The situation wasn't as bad as I thought yesterday.  They actually kept 3 temps that are techs, so that means they anticipate work after our company is bought.  They could have let everyone go (or kept 3 material handlers at a much cheaper rate.)
