Too many same tracks that RB2 has.  I might still pick it up if only for Beat it.

I call bullshit. For one thing, I doubt Tool would ever let their work be used in such a commercial manner. And why would you have a guitar battle against Sting?

admittedly, two songs off lateralus is kinda questionable, even is schism is radio-friendly

it seems a bit of a tool dork's fantasy

Unfortunately yeah. I'd shit buckets if Tool was in either one, but the songs would be expert tier songs and Danny's drums and MJK's vocal tracks would humble me.

I might pick up the disc release.  No way I'm getting more plastic instruments.

Yep. Unless they come to some sort of deal concerning the PS3 instruments, Guitar Hero WT will be microphone and guitar only, while Rock Band will continue to be a full 4-player band experience in my house.

"Beat It" is an interesting choice for a Guitar Hero game. Lots of dodgy stuff on there (Tokio Hotel???) but some nice picks too.

Ok tracklist... but RB2's looks better. Both have Linkin Park, so thats a negative. But GH World Tour apparently has BEAT IT... I dunno how that would be remotely fun on Guitar Hero/RB.

RB2 already has The Middle, anyway.

Kotaku article from this morning makes it pretty damn likely this is the real track list:

Quote
Activision have announced that two songs - one a master recording, one a live track - will feature in the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, with more to come as DLC. The live song's "Purple Haze" (from a 1969 show at the San Diego Sports Arena), while the master track's "The Wind Cries Mary". Hendrix will also be appearing in the game as a "playable character". "Press Release" follows.
SYDNEY, Australia – July 24, 2008 – The iconic legacy of late singer/guitarist Jimi Hendrix continues in the upcoming Guitar Hero® World Tour video game from Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVID). One of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Hendrix will be featured in the game as a playable character, along with two of his most recognizable master tracks, “Purple Haze (Live)” recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena and “The Wind Cries Mary.” Additional exclusive songs from the legendary artist will follow as downloadable content.
“Guitar Hero games have become the virtual rock stage for the industry’s most beloved artists and Guitar Hero World Tour continues that tradition by honouring the great Jimi Hendrix and celebrating some of his greatest work,” said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Activision Blizzard. “His presence in the game will serve to satisfy multiple generations of his fans and Guitar Hero devotees, as well as create new fans by reintroducing his genre-defining guitar style through the unique Guitar Hero experience.”
Guitar Hero World Tour is being developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The Wii™ version is being developed by Vicarious Visions. The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version is being developed by Budcat. The game is not yet rated by the OFLC. I want Pink Floyd and Def Leppard, but that's not the Leppard song I want.

Otherwise I much prefer the Rock Band 2 disc.  I think that Pink Floyd won't be on one of these games any time soon, so for that I think the list is fake (somewhat at least.)

If they are, I will buy this game regardless of what I like about the rest of the disc.

Okay, so will someone explain to me how the Rock Band instruments are supposed to work with GH4?

That IS the case, right?

That's the case for the 360 version (at least for now). When you play the Rock Band drums in GH:WT, the notes in the charts shrink from 6 to 5 to make up for the missing button.

The guitars work the same as always.

Maybe they'll release it along with 2112. I would pay a lot of gold-backed dollars to to have that. :hyper

Rock Band 2 has new GNR and Bon Scott-era AC/DC, so it wins by default.  :-*

Glad that shitty list is fake.

Any list that comes out now and doesn't have Leather Rebel, Master of Puppets, Angel of Death, Tornado of Souls, Heaven and Hell, Strangelhold, and Crazy Train will be inferior by default.
