Doolittle has my favorite Pixies song on it, that is why I would say I like it more, but Surfa Rosa has more songs I like, so that is why I would say I like it more.  Hard choice.

Surfer Rosa is the better album.  Doolittle has some skippable songs and the production is ass compared to SR.

Surfer Rosa has. . . not a bad song on it.  I won't deny that Doolittle has some great tracks, but the production is so distracting.  It's all shiny and clean and shit.  Fuck that.

I like Surfer Rosa's production because it sounds like a garage band having fun.  I think it really suited them well.

I think it's fine.  I don't recall it being all that much different.  Just a technological spit shine, I guess.

my biggest Pixies bugbear is that "Monkey Gone to Heaven" gets all the big props. It's not a terrible song or anything, but it's just a pretty average Pixies songs. There are MANY better on Doolittle alone. Give Debaser or Hey the props instead.

It's one of my favorites, but I think my favorite ever is between Here Comes Your Man and La-La-Love You

I would have preferred it as a Rock Band download by far.
Doolittle's got some sweet songs though, it's just got songs that I don't wanna hear.  Surfer Rosa production is nice and gritty too  :-*

Surfer Rosa for sure.

But Doolittle does have Gouge away.

On an odd note I got to hang out with Kim Deal when she came to see a  Guided by Voices show I attended 10 years or so ago.  She is one cool chick.

Debaser would have sounded even better if the Pixies didn't want to apparently aspire to sound like Poison or Aerosmith.  Going for a polished sound made the band sound like shit.

made the songs spunkier... motorway to roswell, havalina, alison, planet of sound... smooth stuff. surfer rosa and doolittle can duel it for third spot thank you.
