+ DESTROYS the PSP as a multi-function device - better browser, better music player, etc..
+ traditional console publishers on board..

Arcade - Super Monkey Ball (SEGA) - $9.99

Puzzle - Aqua Forrest (Hudson) $7.99

Not a bad start for the first few weeks.

We also already have;

- DeBlob - THQ

- Bomberman Touch - Hudson

- Tetris - EA

and over 200 other games....

What do you think will become of this?

I think Iphone can move more software than DS/PSP....you can quickly download/install from itunes store or from the app store built into the ipod touch/iphone..

I wouldnt say 'demolish' PSP and DS as they already have sweet sweet game librarys, but yeah looks promising. Also inevitable massive userbase (which may or may not 'game' mind), but the all in one phone, media, browser, game machine is attractive to say the least. I cart around a cellphone DS and ipod wherever I go, one device would be preferable

Also someone could easily make a slim control pad/button shell to clip on and IO using the ipod interface port on the bottom.

no, let's wait for two years -- nobody will make a good psp-grade game in six months with the current iphone/touch sdk, and for its level of hardware complexity

Its hard for my PSP to get any play time...

I love it - but its too big, I never carry it on me...and when im at home I just play the consoles or PC....

Stunned that Tetris and Bomberman are available on a phone. This changes everything. :rolleyes

You do have a solid point about the superior distribution model though. They should certainly sell a lot of Popcap-level stuff via iTunes. I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised to see PS2-level games of any substance on this thing though...they'd be even more hamstrung by the controls than the PSP is.

I love it, but crappy controls + no battery life.

Works for some games (I just bought Bejeweled for like the hundredth time) but not all, and I think it has a potential of further opening-up casual / mainstream gaming, rather than cutting away from Nintendo's sales (PSP has software sales?), since the games are at different price points.

I have heard the new 3G iphone has bad battery life unless you disable the 3G options...

I personally use the gen 1 iphone and have no issues with the battery...

I also dont have a problem with the controls. the tilt is more accurate than the wii or the sixaxis...mind you I havent enen tried games that would use the buttons....but for most games where tilt has several degrees of movement, and a touch screen and at least 1 primary button - I think talented developers can do great things....

it isn't even remotely more accurate. monkey ball's tilt controls are BAD by the standards of the wii or the sixaxis. have those hairspray fumes gone to your head again?

I think they do have Ys for cellphones... would probably control fairly decently, since it's mostly d-pad control. I wanna play Vay on the iPhone though, haha.

Oh, yuck. Look, I love the internet browser and the media functions on my iPod Touch, but gaming and iPod Touch/Phone do not go together. Games that rely completely on tilting might be okay, but most games don't work this way. Even stuff like SCUMM VM is difficult to use with the Touch. The screen is too small for your finger to accurately point at the right area.

Hey, Cell phones in Japan "demolish" DS and PSP from a content standpoint too. And they have a more diverse line-up and even a d-pad/buttons to use-- and they still play like shit!

iPod Touch/iPhone gaming is simply the next frontier for shitty mobile based games. Nothing that will keep your interest past a minute or two at a time and most of the games are overpriced for the garbage you are getting.

Oh, and the regular iPod is a better gaming platform than this.
