been playing the PS2 version.... fucking fantastic game, full of humor, creativity and has a great narrative and likable lead. Everything GTAIV doesnt have! bubububub scorcese my ass, why didnt this game have a midnight launch and idiot fanboys going crazy? Same with Assassins Creed. Oh you can steal cars in GTA  ::) big fucking whoop

yeah man, I heartily recommend it. Really good school setting, takes most of the ideas from GTA3 (HUD, mission structure etc.) but is a lot more tounge-in-cheek and far fetched (which is what I prefer in my games). I wasnt expecting much but Ive really been impressed by the game, you can tell a lot of effort and heart has gone into it. And you can score hot nerdy chicks  :-[

I rented it and played through it on 360. Really fun game. I like how it's more of a beat em up.

Yeah it's closer the Warriors than GTA, but it's in a different leauge of fun compared to GTA IV. Definitely can recommend the 360 one

I'm reluctant to give another R* effort a shot after the absolute abomination that was GTA4.  With that said, a couple of more glowing recommendations from people who didn't like GTA4 and I'll have to cop.

Bully is great. I was hoping GTAIV would be a Bully+GTA:SA hybrid, but they took a lot of the task work in Bully and made a whole fucking game out of it. Ugh. So many great ides, not all of them completely executed, but totally worth playing. Few other games have such a complete atmosphere

Yeah, Bully is great.  I think it ragged a bit in the end when you hooked up with that poor chick, but other than that it was great and much better than GTA4.

Ps2 Version???? This is disappointing to hear, Scenester. You do know there is a 360 version.

Co-sign the title though, GTA4 is shit

Bully is GTA Warriors, which rocks.

So the story is good for a videogame? Engaging narrative that hooks you?

Gameplay doesn't feel like you're running errands a la GTA4?

The Warriors and Bully are games that are made with heart, along with GTA:SA. It's just a pleasure playing them because you fall in love with the characters.

I mean the story is pretty basic (kid wants to rule the school) but as methodis said, the game has a lot of heart and the characters and settings are infectious. Personally I love all the overblown high school stereotyping (jocks vs. nerds, preppies vs. greasers etc.)

I did it to get the achievement for all the save points. It's not hard, just a test of patience.

I found the story terrible though, but everything else was quite fun.

Bully is awesome. Feels like a real world instead of what you get in GTA and it has characters you actually like, and want to know what happens to them unlike your annoying cousin, or a doushe named Playboy X.

I absolutely loved Bully and i hope Rockstar makes a sequel.

I remember when I unlocked the go-kart to use to roam the world and being amazed much I shrunk that game world with the massive speed  of it compared to the bikes.

If they do make a Bully 2, I hope they keep it in the same kind of age group.  I remember people saying they wanted it to be set in a university or something like that, but that is no fun.

the only character I liked in GTAIV was that dude that was always excercising and going on about rolling vip style or some shit.. Brucie I think. Niko was ok but everyone else was a fucking piece. If the writing was truly interactive scorcese level, why did I always skip the cutscenes? The stupid black dude that goes on about 'cleaning up the streets' or whatever is easily the most annoying game character of all time. Easily. Id rather listen to Rosco McQueen's robot assistant than him

What Niko did in the end, at least in my case, was to gun down 50 guys effortlessly only to have to do it again several times as I:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
1) lost the escaping boat by not staying close enough to the shoreline
2) lost the escaping boat by not trusting the game to give me a jump over some rocks
3) lost the escaping boat by thinking that I should blow past the armed group of thugs near a ramp, after the game told me to head for a ramp to jump onto the helicopter, then chasing the thing four more blocks, finding another Unique Jump ramp, flailing off that, then wondering what ramp they were talking about
4) lost the escaping boat by seeing the actual jump, then hitting it on the edge, failing to make the cutscene happen
5) same thing again
6) and one more fucking time
7) then finally got the cutscene and finished the rest of that godforsaken mission without anything else exciting happening

BULLY is the best "GTA game" since GTA III. The team that made it learned from every single other Rockstar game, and synthesized (hi, Patel!) it into a nearly perfect GTA and Warriors game which references high-school mischief movies instead of heist films.

The fight mechanic is FUN. It's not as deep as The Warriors', but it's arguably more fun. You can give jocks melvins and toilet swirlies. The presentation's nice, too. Those "establishing shots" to mask the brief load times on entering buildings were a genius move.

THAT'S really what kills me about GTA4: the lack of compelling characters. There are so many good ones, even in the PSP titles, but GTA4 we basically get BRUCIE as the only holdover from the old storytelling style.

I think thats just the fault of the city. They went "too big" by going "too small". You couldn't really learn any of the locations because it was just too big. Also the soundtrack sucked and so did the characters.
