I love my grandparents dearly, but my mother's father. Is really starting to annoy me. He's really big on emails with jokes and attachments like its 1997. I used to get 3 or 4 emails a day with those stupid joke of the day or interesting historical fact stuff. His computer kept getting viruses so messing up so we got him a simple imac since all he needs is word and email. Now he constantly asks me where programs are. For two weeks straight he kept asking me how to get to his contacts. That was a while ago and I thought everything would be good. But today I got this email.

"I dk what the problems are but I can't get into my e-mail again.  I'll keep trying - as you already know I am very trying.

Pax,  Tom"

I replied

"How are you able to email me if you cant get into your email? I guess I'm not sure what the problem is."

I kind of feel sorry for him, because his computer is his window to the world since he cannot get out much.

Basically all it takes to appear like a computer whiz is the 'Help' file of any given app and, failing that, two minutes in Google.

i actively discourage anyone over the age of 60 from using a PC. "but we wanna see all THE PITCHERS YEW SEND" "i don't send pictures, grandma. the internet is only for filthy porn, dumb teens, and people who think linux is a viable os." "WHAT IS THIS LINUX" "see, there you go. time for the home."

:rofl

My mum (she's 69) asks me for help a fair bit.  She got an iMac last year and I get frustrated pretty easily when helping her but she's figuring it out quite well.  It can't be easy when you don't grow up with computers.

Last question was "what is a URL?"  I told her quite clearly, and then she asked what her URL is...

Dear old crazy folks.
