I've been trying to install 2.42 so I can get onto the store and try PixelJunk Eden for like 45 minutes. I can't get past 1% on the download. This is Sony.

It downloaded and installed for me in under 10 minutes. Then I was able to return to SC4 to create more characters. No big deal.

Some dudecunt claimed that these types of updates aren't required, which is a bunch of crap. It signs you out of the PSN, and with the only good games on the PS3 being online centric, it makes it impossible to actually play games without updating. Who issues these updates anyway? It's the Japanese, isn't it?

I wonder how many circumstantial PS3 bricking occur during these updates...

There must be a % of PS3 that die every time due to power blips, etc when users update...the more updates SONY pushes, the greater the chances...

They really need to ship these kinds of items with a boot disk or some kind of firmware reset option.

I'm just glad that 2.41 fixed the stupid problem they added in 2.4, where if you didn't turn on your switchbox before your PS3 it would default to TV sound output and could not be reversed without a reboot.

That's another asinine procedure. Why does one have to fucking click on the floaty bubble that is a PS3 Demo and verify the install. I mean, I downloaded the fucking thing, I obviously want to play it!
