Wii Music will sell a ton, stupid Nintendo fans will still love Nintendo because they will supply Battalion Wars 3 as their only "core" game that game, that stupid lord Nintendo ass guy will write a long blog post about it and Nintendo fegs will suck his tit thinking that someone finally understands them.

All we can do is hope this lame fad will finally end and Nintendo, no longer a game maker, will sink to the lowest of lows of the Furby and beg its fans to take it back (except they would never leave since Nintendo fans are a curious bunch) using gifts of new quality games and not shitty toys.

More so than Video Toys vs Video Games, I would rather Nintendo and Sony join forces so there will be a competition to keep pumping out better games.  Plus it will be like WW2 again.

I think there is the very real possibility that Stringer doesn't have the patience for the Playstation strategy - looking at the balance books, for a brand that has lead the way for over a decade, the overall profit total is horrific so the idea of selling off the games arm surely has to be something that has crossed his mind. Prior to this gen, people pointed out that the Sony cycle was susceptible to failure if they had just one catastrophic cycle. The PS3 has not been a catastrophe, but it's been pretty damn poor and I'm sure it's possibly being seen as a warning.

Obviously I'm not a business person, but considering what the Playstation is to Sony, a key component in the CE market, I don't see why this couldn't happen. It'd serve the basic Home Entertainment interest of both companies, but I guess everything comes down to profit sharing, and the smudge on the face of the corporation that "caves" first. I'd certainly like to see it happen though. I'd gladly swallow Microsoft's services on Microsoft's terms if it meant one well designed system with all the games. And I'd assume that it'd be in developer/publisher interest as well. Who would stand to lose from this, accessory manufacturers?

But whatever. The only hardware related thing I've ever been right about was that the Wii would be a smashing success.  :(

Meh, Sony and MS would be getting together one generation too late.

Possibly two.

Ideally, one of them would just quit right now. Doesn't matter which one.

So yeah - my hope would be that Sony/MS just merge for Playstation X.

Er, what's wrong with hoping for a combined effort? Whether it's realistic or not is really quite irrelevant.

it'd be one thing if he said "it'd be nice if sony and microsoft joined forces to make a mega-console," but he actually wrote out why he thought the two companies might actually agree to do that as if it was a possibility :lol

i just didn't want to quote the whole post.

perhaps rrod isn't as big a problem anymore, but DRE's still are.

the first system i sent back was replaced with a refurb that has the extra heatsink.

the other 3 times i sent it back were for fucking DRE's. they haven't sent me back a different console since the first repair.

So then, why couldn't this happen? Strategic partnerships are not all that unusual, not even between these two companies. If it serves the interests of both companies, which it realistically could, why would such a partnership be an impossibility?

And on a separate note, if you're going to selectively quote people in your responses, at least quote the parts that you are taking issue with. Questioning the age, and presumably then also the wit and maturity, of a person simply because that person hopes for something to happen is a bit daft.

a lot of pure shit is putting up big numbers on wii.  like why the fuck did we spend three years and 50 million dollars when a beach game with dreamcast graphics is going to make more.

Wouldn't this market get saturated pretty fast though? I mean, those kind of people playing the latest shitware don't buy games very often, nor are they very keen in buying them for full price. I mean, look at the casual games industry on the PC, where everyone steals everyone else's ideas and the market is totally clogged and not super profitable unless you get a real hit (hey just like big-budget hardcore gaming).

The big budget stuff is still going to happen. It'll just be approved even more conservatively and in less volume, and with a forward focus on building franchises that they can milk huge amounts of money from via derviative, lower-budget products.

As for hardware, yeah I doubt we'll see the normal jump in tech from anyone next go around. It's clearly not required, and I'm sure the players involved would rather not fork over huge amounts of cash just to be the most powerful system.

dyfb - DCharlie can surely clear the hookers, jewellery and cocaine copies of various releases of Winning Eleven out of a wing of his X-Mansion to make space for you. Do it!
