How much of Mystery Science Theater 3000 is on dvd?
« on: July 30, 2008, 04:27:09 PM »
So I've had a hankering for MST3k recently and was wondering what the best way to watch it was since they don't show it on tv any more.

Apparently they don't even have half the series on dvd?

I've not seen the show in years so I just wanna watch some MST3k =/

:lol

Is the only thing MST3k has on dvd right now just Best Of sets?

There's about 60 episodes (out of around 200) on DVD. I think they're up to Volume 12 of the boxsets which have 3-4 each, and then about 20 individual episodes. For the value, the best one to start off with is MST3K Essentials which is Manos, the Hands of Fate and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians for about $20. You can't beat that.

Or you could get every episode on bootleg DVD-R.

Which is the only way you'll ever be able to see every episode.

I've seen some sites before that sell them, but just I made those myself, so just the cost of 200 DVD-Rs and 200 DVD thinpaks. I found a torrent for the complete series in XVID, and downloaded it from there, and then used Nero to convert them to DVD format and because I wanted to have them on DVD for easy access.

Yeah it seems downloading is the way to go.

I bought several of the boxsets, but then I realized that you can spend a small fortune on these things and you're still never going to get the entire series because the licenses have lapsed for a lot of the earlier movies.
