No, I got it a few days ago. I missed this album when it came out, so I'm catching up.

I only listened up to The Dark Eternal Night

Had to change name to avoid litigation, I imagine. Will try to listen to a little later. I loved the first 2 DT albums but lost track after that.

All tracks are great. TDEN is awesome, but I think the best song is the last one, In The Presence of Enemies Part II.

^From 9:35 starts the coolest passage of the album.

Oh my, a DT thread!  :-*

You're gonna hate me but this is probably one of my least favourite DT albums.  :(

It mostly stems from the fact that I can't really relate to death metal lyrics.  I don't think they're shit or whatever, but they just don't do anything for me.  And a number of songs kind of go into lean into that area including TDEN and ITPOE II.  For example, I don't find the lyric passage "Dark Master of sin, I will fight for you" powerful, I find it a little humorous actually.  I realise John Petrucci got a kick out of writing these "darker lyrics" but they come off as kind of silly to me.

I'm not a hater though.  ITPOE Part I is fantastic, and I like the majority of ITPOE II except for what I said above.  I like Forsaken - it's not very progressive but as a catchy little rock track it's really good.

Constant Motion and TDEN don't do it for me because of the lyric styles mostly.  The instrumental parts are excellent though.  Overall they're growing on me a little over time.

Repentance is probably the worst DT song ever - it's insanely boring.  I skip it every time I listen to the album.

Prophets of War is OK but nothing amazing.  Ministry of Lost Souls starts a little crappy but it's one of the better songs on the album.  My attention wanders a little though.

So there are parts I REALLY love where they're hitting some kick-ass progressive harmony/rhythm bits, but some bits I really don't like at all.  ITPOE Part I and Forsaken are the only two that I have no issues with - I really like them.

It's my first completely heard album of Theater XD

I don't know this cd was Death Metal? DT is Progressive and the lyrics sound very broody and set in a near bleak future.

How about that 9:35 part of ITPOE PT. II ?

I love that song, starts off so cheesy XD

If you liked this one, you'd probably like Train of Thought.  It almost 100% heavy stuff.  I really liked it.

Oh, I don't think it's death metal, but some of the lyrics lean slightly towards the growling/demonic vocal style of death metal.  I can't really relate to that so it detracts a bit.

FUCK YEAH!!!  One of my favourite parts of the album, and probably one of the best DT bits around.  When it goes into the part at 10:34 it's also super kick-ass.  ITPOE part I 4:15 is another one of my favourite bits.

"Cheesy" is just the word I was looking for.  :lol

The rest of the song is cool though

I wanna hear the album with the song The Mirror on it.

Reminds me a bit of Symphony X's vocals, but nowhere near Opeth's level of growling.

I also love the 1:13 part from the first song where some cool synthesizer phaser thingie is played in the background. And the following slow part of course.

Btw I love that "do you still wait for your God" line. Awesome deliverance.

That's Awake, it was pretty heavy too.  I love The Mirror and also Lie which joins onto the end of The Mirror.

I agree.  It's only little bits of the vocals that I don't like.  Such as the demon voice immediately preceding "Dark Master within, I will fight for you".   And most bits where Mike Portnoy sings along with Labrie I don't like - which is most of Constant Motion and TDEN.  Eh, they've grown on me since I've got the record though.

Yeeaaaaaah....  :lol  I'm listening to some of DT's other stuff heavy now.

Hey you like Iron Maiden don't you?  They're one band I've never got around to, but I quite like them (I was a big Def Leppard fan so I really like that genre).

I should really look into their stuff.

Dude you're kidding me? Maiden are my fav band. Check out their reunion stuff. It beats most of their 80's albums, with the exception of SIT and SSOASS. Brave New World is cookies. You get it? Cookies...
