3) When on your runs, make sure you finish your goal. Take a break if you have to, but finish the total distance. If your goal is to run 2 miles, but your legs start getting really sore around the 1.5 mark, then take a break, but make sure you run that last half mile when you're good to go. Otherwise you'll start cheating yourself when the pain kicks in.
Oh, and you won't have to worry about this just yet, but keep in mind: at short distances, it's all about lungs, lungs, lungs (and heart). But after you've built up some endurance and you're doing greater distances, it'll start to be all about your legs. Be ready for this. Your recovery periods will be much faster if you stretch properly and invest in a decent pair of running shoes.
I don't think I've jogged since I used to box years ago. Now I just drag my dead lifeless legs everywhere like a Romero zombie. I REALLY need to start using the stationary bike again.
