Death Proof

Watched this movie tonight. Man, that was ultra homo. Why the fuck did I sit there and listen to chicks talking for an hour and a half? That movie should have been a kill-fest.

Planet Terror was fun, but I don't need to see it ever again. I was drained after I saw it, so the long conversations in Death Proof were perfect. And the intensity! The car chases/crashes! SO AWESOME :punch :punch

Never really thought about it, but probably Zodiac, Death Proof, Stardust, There Will Be Blood, and Into The Wild. Then Ratatouille, No Country, Hot Fuzz, Atonement, and Sweeney Todd would wrap up the top 10.

My favorite scene was Russell tickling Rosario Dawson's feet. I didn't mind the dialogue the first time around, but whenever I catch it playing on Showtime I can't ever sit through the whole thing. I wanted to see bitches dying, not gabbing about inane shit for 45 minutes.

I probably would have no complaints if
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the girl on the hood would have got splattered all over the road

The car chase was great though.

Didn't feel natural at all to me, although some scenes seemed to flow better than others. I can't help but roll my eyes through many parts of that first car scene. That's QT talking, not some chicks

The Juno comparison makes sense -- the dialogue in this is some of the most self-indulgent garbage ever penned and dictated before camera.  Thankfully, a few minutes of Kurt Russell whining and crying is enough to take it from being one of the worst movies I've ever paid to see, to one of my favorites of the year (albeit, not in the top 10).

i'm not hatin on DP himuro, stop being an insecure african american man. as my man lonny once said "if i don't like it, i don't like it/doesn't mean i'm hatin"

Overall the writing is good but I don't see how anyone can deny a lot of it is forced, like QT heard a bunch of his male friends mentioning these things and figured hey, lemme give those lines to a bunch of chicks. Like Juno

in juno, the character say shit because they think they're smart, in the way FOC thinks he's smart when he's not. In Death Proof it's like,"What are these bitches about? What is this movie about? WHAT IS THE POINT?" And then as soon as I know it, Kurt Russel's killing a bunch of pretty girls.

Watching DP REALLY helped if you just went in and watched it without knowing about the premise at all. AT ALL.

So were the lines in Juno, that doesn't make them not forced and eye-rollingingly odd. Especially the hot black chick in the car; at what point can we stop and say "ok, we get it." yet that scene is stretched out, expanding to the other girls. from the stupid "they call it the thing?" lines to the who southern daddy thing...ehh

It shows how damn self aware and dominant these women were over their men. they weren't wimps. i liked that. I agree that some scenes droll on, but that's in the dvd version. I actually think some of the scenes were better in the theatrical version.

Now, for a script Tarantino just shat out of his ass, Death Proof's not that bad.
