Should I bother playing/buying Fatal Frame, II and III?
« on: August 02, 2008, 11:32:49 AM »
I have an op to buy the set unopened for $100. Is it worth it? Will I appreciate a mint set of these?

I really have no idea about the game. I never tried it.

Whats the EB take?

they're creepy and fun, although the original has pretty klunky controls compared to the later two

fatal frame 3 is my fave, although the fans seem to love 2

Yeah, you should check them out.

II is the best, followed by III.

The only thing I don't like about FF is the slow-paced gameplay. The characters run way too slow, and that's really annoying considering all the backtracking you'll have to do...

you can usually catch the rare ghosts en route during backtracking, though, which at least makes it more interesting than, say, metroid prime's backtracking

If you're a survival horror fan, you'll probably love them.  They have everything you'd expect from the genre, and they're one of the few survival horrors that can genuinely make you feel really uncomfortable.

The pace is slow, but if you're into survival horror that's probably one of the things that attracts you to the genre.  In the first game the analog sticks are reversed when you're in first person view if I remember correctly - so the left stick is your look stick.  It can be quite disorienting but you do get used to it.

I didn't realize these games were still so expensive. I thought they'd be cheap as fuck.
