I'm watching the Shield.  I'm at the part of season 2 where Connie the Hooker comes back from doing 90 days in county.  Why does she immediately return to a life of hookering rather than get a legitimate job?  I mean, why can't she just get a job at McDonalds or Wal-Mart or something.  She clearly doesn't enjoy her job and I am sure that the typical hooker clientele makes it impossible to enjoy the success, so why?  WHY?

Hookers are different than the other scenarios you described.  We live in a society where even marginally above average-looking women can coast by without much effort.  As long as it's not a fatty fetish hooker, I am sure the majority of them could be spending their work time in a better manner.

Yeah, if they have pimps the situation is a lot different.  Most of the ones I dealt with didn't have pimps, though.

I live in a pretty rough area of Montreal, and white gang members are in the extreme minority. That's just how it is.

Well, I would assume if a hooker got busted, then set free, they would have that on their criminal record. So when they apply for a job, they have to mention that, and it wouldn't be too surprsising if many employers wouldn't want to hire someone with a felony on their record. As a result, they seem to go back to doing the only thing that they can do. It's the same case with a lot of criminals, and why they go back to jail shortly after getting out.

Maybe like 5-10%.  The best-looking ones were the cheeseburgers.
