You forgot you called it better than the departed at gaf. :)

I agree with you of him potentially surpassing Connery. When he has 3 films under his belt I will be suprised if I look back and still call Connery his superior.

Also to those who want to know, monday Bond jumped ahead of Happy Feet and is showing it might(and likely based on the INCREDIBLE word of mouth) have one hell of a leggy run.

Intenationaly, and unlike most films international intake is just as if not more important than domestic intake for Bond, the film is breaking all kinds of records.  Its Friday-Sunday take tied "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" as the second-highest weekend launch in Brit history, trailing only "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

Rock on, Solo.  I agree with most, if not all, of his points.  Casino Royale rocked the house.

Also, Daniel Craig is easily my favorite Bond since Connery.  He adds a level of charm and tones down the cold, mechanical killer that Brosnan could never do.

I think Craig is the most layered Bond and probably a better actor than Connery at his point in his career, but let's wait a few films.  Connery has consistency under his belt, in terms of performances and Bond films. I remember than Brosnan started off pretty good, as well (although Craig in Casino Royale is easily better performance-wise than Brosnan in GoldenEye) and basically became more and more of a cariacture with each further installment.

Indeed, I did say that, and stand by it. Its a matter of Departed being a 9.49999 to CR's 9.5 though. Both were phenomenal. My being a huge Bond nut + finally seeing the Bond movie I always wanted + having it rock hardcore pushed it over the top for me. Its a day later, and I am still tingling from the awesomeness of CR. When the movie ended, I just had a fucking huge grin on my face, which Im not sure has left yet.

Solo is dead to me. :'(

:'( We'll always have Oldboy Shakie

Solo rocks.

Thank ye. You also rock the house.

Amen! When Willco and I have an agreement on a movie, it usually means its frikkin' great. Which CR is. And totally fucking agreed on Craig. He has more charm than Brosnan (surprisingly) and more coldness (not surprising). Seriously though, like I said in my review, the first shot of Craig killing the dude in the sink, he looked like a serial killer. Scary bastard.

Dare I say I liked Craig better than Connery? :-[

I won't yet, but if he can keep this up, I will for sure. Craig is already the uncontested #2 in my eyes. He just seems so..... alive or something in the role. Its hard to explain. I *felt* Craig's portrayel.

 :-[ Thanks!
Nope, I pretty much just write 'em for my own amusement. I dont do it for every movie I see, but when something really does a number on me (be it seething hate or gushing praise) I feel the need to review it. CR evoked something in me, so I felt the need to gush about it in review form.

Solo is an awesome critic, except when he has Ebert moments like calling CASINO ROYALE a better film than THE MOTHERFUCKING DEPARTED. :-\

I most definately will pay to see this in theatres again, and will obviously buy the DVD on Day 1.

Other random stuff I loved:
- The B&W intro was perfect, and Im pleasantly surprised that they actually kept in all in B&W.
- I LOVED the opening titles. The were done by the same guy who did all the Brosnan movies, yet these ones blew those 4 away.
- I really enjoyed the M/Bond relationship. Its the first time in ages they've had some growth.
- The bomber chase scene is the most exciting action scene this year.
- I loved how rough and arrogant Bond was in this one (bulldozing the shit out of a building, killing in the embassy, crashing the car as a "valet").
- The shower scene
- OMG REAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
- "The whole world will know you died scratching my balls!"  :lol
- The bitch is dead. Only my favorite line in all of Fleming's books.
- Loved how they set up the future Bond. He treats women as disposable, but not because of a problem with women, but because of his own issues.
- That final shot. Like honestly, who didnt see it coming? That it STILL rocked my socks is a testament to how awesome Craig and the movie were. "Who are you?" "Bond. James Bond." *cue credit, James Bond theme, and a roaring crowd*

My theatre was sold out, rare for a Tuesday night showing.

The last movie I saw twice in the theater was Star Wars Ep III; pfft I went on the first day showing at midnight, and the next day my brothers wanted to see it so I took them. I didn't go again because I wanted to lol.

I saw ROTK about three times at the theater in a row though

Also, I thought when he shoots Mr. White and he starts slowly walking up the steps, and the very beginning of the full theme song also slowly builds up - to the line! - is worth seeing the movie alone.

THE POWER OF CRAIG COMPELS YOU!

You didn't read my review of the movie? :(

Craig was awesome indeed. Movies impress me when they prove me wrong. In Casino Royale, there were parts where I chuckled to myself because I knew exactly what was going to happen - like when the terrorist blew himself up while thinking he was going to blow up the gas tanker. I saw that coming the minute the terrorist put that keychain bomb under the tanker.

But there were many parts where I thought one thing would happen but it didn't. Like when Bond was chasing Eva to the bank, and the camera never showed her face. I expected it to actually be that arab woman who got killed earlier, and I totally didn't expect it to actually be Eva.

This is the type of movie that will play even better on repeat viewings. Strange as it sounds, knowing what is gonna happen lets you enjoy other things you may have missed the first time when you were more intensely focused. I cant wait to see it again.

OHMSS has a special place in my heart since when I got into Bond I was young. Like 7-8. All the ones I watched were the Roger Moore ones and Goldfinger. What can I say, I was young. In the middle of that I decided to rent OHMSS. That ending was a total mindfuck for me at that age.  :lol
