I'm a white dude with Irish ancestry on my mom's side of the family.  I love eating potatoes, am a big ol' drunk and appreciate the literary greats of Ireland.  (Joyce, Beckett, Shane MacGowan)  I even kind of want to instinctually kill most British people I come across.

But man, I just don't get that shit.

My mother went to Ireland earlier this year and I got off the phone with her earlier today.  She was trying to convince me that Riverdance was this culturally awesome force on par with like Cirque du Soleil or some absurd shit.  I tried to convince her that it's about as culturally significant as Gallagher.  LOL WATERMELONS!

Which reminds me of another thing I just don't get: The time warp dance.

I mean, I get that it's just a jump to the left and then a step to the right. Put your hands on your hips, your bring your knees in tight. But really.. why?
