Some basic info about it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider

The collider is contained in a circular tunnel with a circumference of 27 kilometres (17 mi) at a depth ranging from 50 to 175 metres underground.
The protons will each have an energy of 7 TeV, giving a total collision energy of 14 TeV. It will take less than 90 microseconds for a proton to travel once around the main ring.

Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) on the grounds that high-energy particle collisions performed in the LHC might produce dangerous phenomena, including micro black holes, strangelets, vacuum bubbles and magnetic monopoles.

no.  i just can't fucking wait until it destroys (hopefully) string theorists convenient fucking idea.

If switched on, it is theorized that the collider will produce the elusive "Higgs boson" particle — often dubbed the God Particle — the detection of which might possibly help explain how other fundamental particles gain mass and fill in some of the gaps in the "Standard Model" theory. Other theoretical particles that have been predicted might be created include "strangelets", miniatureblack holes [MBH], magnetic monopoles, etc.

Strangelets are theorized to be a more stable form of nuclear matter, containing an equal number of up, down and strange quarks, compared to normal nuclear matter composed of only up and down quarks. Its greater stability would result in a fusion capability with normal nuclei, releasing energy. Miniature black holes are theorized to evaporate quickly by "Hawking radiation", though such mechanism of evaporation is also only theorized and not proven. Magnetic monopoles were first theorized by P.A.M. Dirac, who also correctly predicted the existence of positrons. Analogous to particles that carry a single electric charge [positive or negative], a magnetic monopole would be a particle carrying a single magnetic charge [north or south] of strength137-fold of an electric charge.

In theory, a miniature black hole created at rest relative to Earth is considerably different that one created by high-energy cosmic rays striking the Earth. If such high energy cosmic rays were to on occasion create a miniature black hole, as some theories have suggested, it would be traveling at very high speed [0.9999+ c] relative to Earth, and much like a neutrino, simply zip right through Earth in ¼ second without interacting, or if it did interact, it would glom on to a few quarks and barely slow.

Conversely, any miniature black hole created at rest in a collider would essentially be trapped in Earth’s gravitational field, and over seconds to hours, slowly interact and acquire more mass, if Hawking radiation does not work as predicted, or as quickly as predicted, to cause the newly-minted miniature black hole to “evaporate”.

No, but it would be pretty sweet if it did.

Also, Evilbore will counter with it's Large Hardon Collider, Tauntaun. It's gonna be like Godzilla vs. Kong.
