I just laughed at the whole "OMG, TEH COLORS! RAINBOW!" freakout. They could cel-shade the game for all I care, it'd still be awesome.

There was a funny photoshop of people bitching about GoW and its dark colors, then people bitching about the bright colors in diablo III

I've said it from the start, but everything I've seen of Diablo 3 looks great. I don't mind the "colors" at all, just as long as they have some contrast with darker and more twisted areas, which I have no doubt will be in the finished product.

The dumbest thing about people wah wahing over the colors is that we have seen TWO FUCKING AREAS IN THE GAME.  And one of them was even a dark generic area!

i still think they should at least offer a more classic color scheme as an option.  screenshots first reminded me of mythos, which isn't necessarily good.  not a big deal though.

some of the photoshops aren't done as well as others, and they are just photoshops after all, but in general i must agree with them--photoshops defeinitely feel more 'diablo' and less like one of the many diablo clones.

I'll take the wisdom of Blizzard designers over the dogmatic groupthink of the b.net kiddies every single time.

oh, blizzard definitely knows what they're doing.  the brighter colors will definitely be better for sales and the guy interviewed is good at explaining why.  which is why i'm only asking for the option--just make it an optional post process effect for the fans of the original color ranges.

I like the brighter colors in the game, it sticks out in a day and age when every game tries to outdo each other on the number of different shades of gray and brown they use.

I love the look of the game.  It has a very watercolor vibe going on.  Faux-gritty needs to go.

Agreed. Blizzard games always had a great art direction. No reason to doubt them now. I like what I'm seeing.

Lighting isn't the problem with this game, it's the art direction. Sorry, but this game looks like World of Warcraft.

I'm going to get this on Day 1, though. I still play Diablo 2 every other day.
