trailer

I am amazed that I was still entertained by this. I hadnt watched it in 10 years. I remember liking Phantasm 2 as well but recall 3 and 4 as being bad/hard to watch and just too much Angus.

I recently tried watching a lot of classic movies and found it difficult to sit thru many of them. While I wasnt scared or anything - the unique Phantasm universe kept me glued for a full viewing. I cant believe how bad some of the editing work is (i.e. the scene where the kid hits his older brother in the foot with the hammer while under the hemi)

My girlfriend had never seen it and thought it was boring.

What say you? (about Phantasm) If you havent seen I recommend for one sit thru if you like the trailer - its 'different' and has good music.

Hooded midgets + quad-barraled shotgun =  8)
QBS doesn't show up till Phantasm 2.

First one actually IS kind of boring. Phantasm is like the exception to the horror series rule, in that it didn't get good until it got stupid.

The 2 and 3 are amazing. Really weird shit, still scary, crazy ass continuity.

I've only seen the first three.  I'd rank them 2 > 1 > 3.  The first one has a certain ultra low budget charm to it.

Nobody here saw the 4th one? It's actually pretty good. The film is more in line with the quite weirdness of the first films and less actiony than the sequels.

so i watched III and IV...ummm....I still like II the best.

One good thing came of it - I imagined a Phantasm RTS....the tall man commands the grave diggers to excavate the graves and turn the corpses into dwarves and spheres.....the fucking survivor army harvests fuel from abandoned gas stations and supplies from ransacked shops....

If the point is flying, blade balls and an alternate dimension full of evil dwarves, yes it does get to the point eventually.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
yes - Dr. Morningside built a dimensional fork back in the 20's with the help of the inter-dimensional psycho bitch from the first movie....she led Morningside to venture into the dimensional fork where he had sex with yellow blooded inter-dimensional daemons and became the face of their evilness for their plunder into our world.

That's less convoluted than most J-RPGs.
