I've been following this pretty closely, and have been suspicious since the first story came out.  An army scientist kills himself, and the FBI says "this guy did it, case closed lol."  I'd also often wondered whatever happened to this great unsolved mystery that the country (or at least the media) had seemingly completely forgotten about.  I guess it's just not as exciting of a story when the anthrax came from our military labs and not Iraq or Al Qaeda  ::)
It already did the job of getting the Patriot Act passed and helping push the country into Iraq.

There are some good posts here: http://anthraxvaccine.blogspot.com/

Greenwald's been doing some good work on Salon... the current practice of anonymous (gov't) sources using the media for psyops is pretty disgusting and getting way too common.  Though really, why bother with journalism when the story is handed right to you?

At least we've got the internet

wait are you saying the gubment may be trying to frame this as the fault of the lone scientist and possibly not the fault of some terror group? why would they do that? if it really came out that some terror group did it [as opposed to a lone scientist of US army] that would lead credence to the goverment's call for War on Terror stuff, yet obviously that's not what they're saying.

I don't think it's some terror group, and I do believe the anthrax came from US gov't labs.  The actual FBI narrative, and how the media had been fed the story by anonymous sources for uncritical regurgitation, is the matter of interest beyond the whodunit.  The official narrative is full of holes, and we don't know the what the truth of the situation is.  There are some who think the Anthrax scare was a false flag operation/inside job meant to scare the senators in question into passing the Patriot Act quickly.  The Anthrax attack was also initially linked (thanks to more anonymous sources who should really be outed now) to Iraq in an attempt to beat the drums of war.

I don't have much of a theory myself, but what the FBI's been pushing out is not reason enough to say "he did it, he did it alone, case closed."  There are a lot of weird aspects to this whole situation.  Even if the official line is to be believed, it displays obvious incompetence on both the part of the FBI and Ft. Detrick, but there's no OMG scandal.  Either way the FBI apparently drove this guy to suicide, which doesn't seem like a very good way to solve a case.
He's not the first guy they've tried to pin this on (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Hatfill ).  They want this whole thing to be over and done with... it's a loose end to tie up before January 20th.

It looks like around here only Eric P and I find it particularly interesting... maybe it's just a side effect of living inside the beltway.

I suspect that it was an inside government job to continue to raise fears.  You know, create propaganda that not only do we have dirty Muslims slamming planes into towers, we have anthrax that could invade your very own mailbox!!!

It is why the anthrax business was somewhat short lived.  It served its purpose of frightening middle class Americans.

I don't think it's an inside job.  that would require far more competence and complicity than we have seen from this administration or their lackeys.

I don't think the FBI has a clue as to who did it and have instead decided to focus on this one individual.  Reading about the harassment of his kids (showing the daughter the anthrax photos saying "your father did this" and telling his son he'd get millions in reward money if he turned his father in) along with no evidence that they found a single spore in his car nor his home nor their ability to place him at the mailbox on the days when he was supposed to mailing these out.

Just read that one post.  It succinctly summarizes my issues while also adding in specialized ones from someone who actually has been working on an anthrax vaccine.
