I picked up some TPBs that the manager of the local comic book shop threw in my pile - The Boys.  Apparently, it is "notorious" and there are definitely some funny parts, but the undercurrent of sexual perversion is pretty strong here.  It's like watching a molested child write a comic about superheroes.

The Boys really is atrocious, bottom-scraping shite of the worst order. Ennis can be a great writer but when he's on puerile shock factor auto-pilot, his stuff actually nauseates me. Never, never NEVER read 'Dicks' or its sequels. And I say that as someone who lived in Belfast for many years and is accustomed to the dialect and 'humor' therein.

Yeah, no kidding. PREACHER verges on the inexcusable, and laughingly so, several times through its run, but it's absolutely brilliant.

Dicks / The Boys is like PREACHER with all the brilliance removed, and only the scatological humor remaining. GODDESS is shit, too.
