It makes sense since the PS3 is more quiet than a 360.  The bigger the fan, the more quiet it is when moving the same amount of air.

Also they don't need to spin as fast to blow air out...I think.  I don't remember anymore.

If you mean my pics - PS3 cooling system, followed by 360 cooling system.  The length of copper tubing is a good measure of the relative effort that went into engineering the two consoles.

Also consider that 360's didn't even include most of that copper tubing until late last year.

I thought the propellers of a small helicopter that cool the PS3 was good enough. :'(

there was a video way back in 2006, where a group of japanese people opened up the PS3, saw the huge ass fan, and everyone started gasping and laughing
